my computer has just done something really wierd... I was browsing the net (whilst downloading music) and everything froze... there was then this big noise and it sounded like the insides where burning or wiping out stuff ... it then turned off... now it is making a clunking noise as it goes about its usual duties... and when i logged on all my cookies etc had been deleted??

sorry not very technical but that is what happened...

It'll prob be 1 of 3 things either processor fan, or hard drive - either areserious really. The 3rd is the one to hope for that your power supply fan has gone - in which case replace that and you would be up and running.

If it is one of the former 2, I'm afaraid you may well have trashed motherboard / hard drive. If processor fan has gone that will also effect HD as it would scramble your windows files. Happened to me last year.

I wouldn't normally make a prediction without seeing the thing. But if stuff has been deleted I'd say it's your hard drive. I'd adivse you to buy another one, or an external one and back up your current data before the whole thing gives in and you lose everything.
