I think the last time i went there was about 8 years ago

Well I've been in there in the past 12 months and I could've sworn it was you that dragged me in there.

Oh are! forgot about that blues!

Didn't i leave you kissing that pale-faced, bald headed girl on the steps?

She's always there isn't she, along with a few hundred of her identical friends.

Went to snobs about 2 months ago for the first time in probably 10 years. Was pleased to see the main room hasn't changed one bit - padded bar when you've had a few can be a godsend!

The best thing is that roughly half the music is exactly the same now as it was 'in my day'. Requested Neds - Kill Your TV, Jesus and Mary Chain - Far Gone and Out, and Wonderstuff - Size of Cow - and all three got played!

I've a scar on my hand after having a couple of beers and falling over dancing to - The Seahorses - Love is the law - in Snobs. There was glass on the floor!

Funny how I can remember the song - but I can't remember getting home that night?!

This thread has made me want to go straight to the Trocadero after the match on Saturday and then stumble up to Snobs afterwards...

Ah memories!

The Trocadero - the name rings a bell. Was that the one up by John Bright Street?

Hush was great, seem to remember Collymore got slapped by a couple of the bouncers who were blues lads having slagged us off on the radio.

One of the original after club places in town.

It's not far fron John bright Street Mo. Just past the ramp on New Street - heading towards the town hall - I think it's temple street, but I may be wrong.

I was in there the night Collymore got battered and i was also in there closing night.

Gutted that place closed, used to love it. Ended up going to a club called Sleep after Hush closed but it just wasnt the same.

BTW ....is Liberty's on Hagely Road still there ??..........I remember that bulding was once the old 'Romulus'

Faces and Chaplins at Five Ways

The Rum Rummer (old Broad St) ...think that was where Duran Duran first played gigs before hitting the big time

Can't forget Pollyannas (Newhall St) either.........Oh ! The Zoo used to be Le Metro (another right dump)

Romulus and Barbarellas used to be my old haunts...
Remember Pollyannas when i was 16 charging 50p a pint..double the 25p or less they charged in the pubs!!!!
Strange to think snobs is still going!

I used to go to millionaires now and again, the dome when back in the late eighties, also some pub over by moor street station that used to some good indie nights,
Also used to get sucked into going to the mackadown pub in lea village / tile cross on a weds night (sharon and tracy meat market night to be polite)
And also the same at the hunters moon.

god the memories

In the days when I used to go clubbing Barbs was the place for me, Saw the clash, Stranglers, Denis Brown, Steel Pulse, The Specials to name but a few. After it closed down we moved on to the rum runner but couldnt work who were women and who were men so ditched it PDQ. The romulus on Hagley road was alright with the alternativer room in the basment the best bet. Went to Locarno once or twice (to see Siouxsie and the Banshees) and went to the Hummingbird that is now the academy, got beaten up in there for chucking a pint of **** over a band called london and they were crap even by punk standards.

Spent so good evenings in the hummingbird though, Thrid World, Yellowman (I think it was there lol) Burning spear all great and toasting competitions (rapping for you youngsters!).

Didnt really go to clubs if bands were not playing as the nobs were normally out looking for a fight.

Yeah The Troc was on Temple Street

The gay pub was The Jester at Holloway Head.....there was another one next to The Futurist (can't think of name)

Not realising The Jester was a pub where men could openly hold hands I went in there with an ex girlfriend and upon receiving my change the barman squeezed my hand tight and winked at me...........We left immediately ........
Well.... after I'd finished my pint of course.. **thumbup

Anyone ever go the The Top of The World in Stafford ????

And does anyone remember that 'All Night Dance Club' in Wigan that played the Northern Soul ??? ..........never managed to get there

Good grief!

Barbarella's.
(We still have a fabulous red tablecloth that somehow ended up at ours. Some girl wore it as a shawl I think and forgot to take it off. We still use it on special occaisions - the tablecloth that is)

Didn't think anyone would remember B's..... :D

still land in snobs from time to time, quality nights when it doesn't matter what your wearing (which is always a good thing) and how lagging you are **thumbup and it hasn't changed in the 10 years I have been going :P

music is always class!!

@ CPH - I felt like you did in snobs in baracuda the one and only time I got dragged in there - the big difference was that every one was looking for a fight in there

@ proccy - the albow room is still going!! I too saw some one stabbed in there on a sunday night - but it wasn't my first time... that memory is for the garry owen as a niave 16 year old

Barracuda wouldnt be Barracuda without a fight (and those arrogant bouncers) ;)

and playing the same song twice in one night is a big no-no for me ;)

I agree with you on this one, Barracuda is truly awful, the bouncers hardly let me and my mates in, probably because theier bigger than the bouncers themselves. But its the attitude you get from them aswell it stinks.

Not only that when you do get inside you see all the clowns in there and you think how did they get in? wtf**

And you think playing the same song twice in one night is bad, I was in there and this song started skipping ( rubbish cd decks) but instead of playing something else, the dj stopped it, waited a bit and played the same tune again.

I make excuses not to go when asked to go there.
