Does anybody still buy these things? Surely the scratchcard craze has died a death?

I used to buy the charity scratchcards, my favourites were the scratchcards from the National Eczema Society. I bought ten of them once, which i suppose was a bit rash? But dang it all it was for a worthwhile cause?

Well? I demand enlightenment siblings, where do you stand on these damned things!

I bet you have Doc!

But surely the adrenalin fuelled excitement of scratching away the silver panel hoping for 3 identical symbols must at least make you curious?

So if i met you in the luxurious Beau Brummie before the gargantuan clash of titans that is taking place on Saturday, and i offered you either a pint of watery carlsberg or an unsolied scratchcard, you would take the former?

The scratchcard could be worth thousands of pounds (or as Camelot say...££££'s) you could have enough money for a balti pie to go with your beer sir?

I can see your curiosity is being tickled Doc!

Whenever I'm catching a bus and I pop into the paper shop for some change, thirty seconds before the bus is due, there's always somebody buying ten scratchcards....not together though, ten from specific places in the the pack of 10,000. Then they pay their weekly paper bill, then they argue about the evening mail that they didn't receive 3 weeks ago. Then I miss the bus..or pay a fiver to town!

Yeah, people are still buying scratch cards, they're just choosing their moments.

me and my friend once found a tenner on the street. We took the tenner and bought 10 scratch cards and off the ten cards we won £20. We split the £10 each way and put the other £10 back where we found it (guilt got the better of us). Oh how we were when we were young.
