@colintattum: Robinson, Spector, Hall and Novak all miss out this evening for Blues due to niggles/knocks. LC not risking any of them

I think it's probably too soon. Lee Clark will want to use it to give as many players competitive action as possible.

My guess is that the Kidderminster game will also see plenty of changes at half time. I think it will be the Notts County before we get more of an idea of the eventual main team and then with a few tweaks for the Inverness match.

Squad and whatever eventual main team has also got to get used to and correlate with other players style and attributes of individual play. It is in many respects back to square one for Blues this season from tonight's game the suggestion of goals in the imminent campaign is there, whether they will materialise in LC's high tempo drive remains to be seen, but its perhaps to early to look for that just yet! :silence:

Although it is very much early doors Gregg Evans from The Mail gives the majority of the new signings some high praise indeed

http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/birmingham-city-how-new-players-7431798

Also, our own youngsters Brown and Gray were on fire and are really starting to look the business, Evans claims LC must be impressed

A virtually brand new Birmingham City team for this coming season , have to remain positive, will be interesting to see how they develop when the real stuff kicks off v Boro away

That's because they have been behaving themselves, or otherwise have been taking a break from the forum! :silence:

Parti, Its good that others are reporting good stuff at such an early stage, but tbh I think it will take quite a few games into the season before we can really tell how well this team can do, maybe 8 to 12 games and in that time its up to the fans to keep geeing them up as a few poor results could dent the confidence. But a few wins along the way and even a few draws will get then through and I think they will then start to get better and better as the season progresses. A lot will depend on Clark and us fans sticking with them and supporting them respectively. It will be hard for Lee to resit trying new things and changing to much, but he has to decide his best team and stick with it without wholesale chopping and changing.

Went down myself last night, spur of the moment thing with about an hour and half till kick off!

Early impressions, and its only pre-season against Forest Green after all:

- Edgar looks a composed, assured defender, with the ball at his feet, bringing it out.
- Gunning on the other hand, does not, he's a no-nonsense, kick and head it clear type next to a more cultured Edgar (think Dann and Johnson)
- Reece Brown looked brilliant in the middle of the park (his assist for the goal was class!), as did Koby Arthur wide... both a thorn in Forest Green's side first half
- Duffy was hit and miss, gets into brilliant positions on the byline but sometimes delays the cross too long, letting defenders get back
- Adeyemi looks like he's put on weight to the naked eye, but my god he looks fit already, tearing around the park non stop, with a bulkier, powerful frame? Positive sign.
- Wes Thomas looks a different player to the one we had before, better touch, better runs, holds it up well.
- Demarai Gray could, and perhaps should've had 1 or 2 goals himself, got into some good positions in the box, but either took one touch too many, or passed it when in a great position to score
- Mention for Charlee Adams, perhaps one to go under the radar a bit, but he slotted in at centre half next to Packwood in the second half and I thought he looked very good. Calm and confident on the ball, always found a Blues shirt when passing out from the back.. maybe an option going forward for us.

All in all, solid workout, we bossed the game from start to finish, with their one chance hitting the post and being cleared off the line by Edgar. Their keeper saved 3 or 4 good efforts, including a very good one from Wes Thomas, so on another night could've been 3 or 4 easily.

Hard to give a 'Man of the Match' when its two separate teams both halves (bar Randolph), but it'd have to go to Reece Brown for me, looked head and shoulders above everyone else on the pitch... hope we see a lot more from him this season, rather than being bombed out completely again.
