Some restaurants strive for perfection to gain the credits and the plaudits from critics and customers alike. With a raft of reviews and awards that would make the middle shelf of any book case bend like an ox bow. Some restaurants proudly display the plaques of motor recovery companies and Michelin stars. Others are content with celebrity pictures and visits to boost there bookings and table orders where as others just serve food. Surely there could be no accolade greater than that of the BCFC forum restaurant guide? Post the restaurants that you recommend and why. Type of restaurant What you ate What looked good on someone else's plate Did the kids get treated like dog dirt? was the wine/beer any good Cost of meal star rating 1-5 (1star bad - 5 star good) |

Type of restaurant - vegan (pogo cafe in hackney, E5) What you ate: Punk burger (organic tofu burger with vegan mayo, cheese, tomato, rasher and lettuce), with salad and potato wedges What looked good on someone else's plate: burrito (tasted very good too!) Did the kids get treated like dog dirt: certainly not, and neither did the dog Was the wine/beer any good: they don't serve alcohol there as they don't have a licence - you can take your own though for £2 corkage. The smoothies, juices, organic colas etc are to die for though! Cost of meal: for the burger and burrito and drinks it came to £14. Everyone who works there are volunteers so we also left a sizeable tip Star rating: 5, it is an absolute pleasure every time I go there **thumbup **thumbup **thumbup |

Tim - try and go for Sunday brekkie but be prepared to wait for your food as it gets rather busy! Well worth the wait though, especially the pancakes and berry syrup **thumbup |

i also have to mention the green note cafe near camden town i went to twice with my mate, the breakfasts were stunning (vegan) and plentiful, served by fantastic waitresses who insisted on giving us lots of free drinks!! the minted lemonade was unusual but excellent - i've never tried anything like it before.... **thumbup |

Although not somewhere on the beaten track, the amusingly named "Cabbages and Condoms" in Bangkok rates very highly in my book. Run as a charity, all proceeds go to educate the hill tribes and less advanced parts of the country about safe sex and distribute contraceptives to slow the alarming increase in HIV and other STDs. Positioned high up in the business district of the city, the food, the views and the local wine were awesome and the service is Thai standard ie the best in the world. If anyone has the opportunity in visiting this fascinating city go and give C&C a go. No comments about ladyboys etc please Proccy. |

Slightly off topic but, Has anyone been to Jay Jays in Hagley Road? Used to be around the Edgbaston Shopping Centre and was a great curry house. It seems to have changed into a tapas house now it has moved. Any knowledge anyone? |
