Singer - The late, legendary Marvin Gaye................a 60's and 70's icon worthy of sharing the King of Soul title with Otis Redding....JMO

Songwriter - Stevie Wonder ........for someone born without sight,a man of PURE VISION

Band - Bad Company .....Paul Rodgers was the classic rock vocalist....so much range.......much like Robert Plant who was front man with my other 'fave' band Led Zeppelin...had the great fortune to see Plant 'guest' with Rodgers on the Bad Company UK tour of 1979 (Birmingham Odeon......oh what a night)

My other favourites are The Average White Band and UB40

Singer: Janet Jackson although I do like many and don't have 1 definite favourite. I went to see Janet when I was about 15 and have bought every album since. I've got her next one- 20 Years Old on order from play.com I like Robbie Williams, Joss Stone, Will Young and others.

Band/ Group: again no particular favourite but do like Take That (from my teens) and Westlife (mainly cause my daughter loves them)

Birmingham Odeon......oh what a night

Any night around that time (late 70's early 80's) was a great night at the Odeon. Those were the days - big bands/groups playing 4 or 5 nights at the Odeon rather than 1 (or maybe 2) at somewhere like the NEC.

Much better atmosphere at that type of venue, IMO. I usd to go to at least 1 a week - helped back then as my next-door-neighbour worked in the box-office. Worst seat was, I think, row E front stalls.

AC/DC (with Bon Scott), Sammy Hagar, Motorhead, Budgie, UFO, Sabbath, Slade on Xmas Eve, Rob Plant, etc. etc. etc.

Those were the days !.... Bit less hair now, but it was "real" live music.

KRO,

C.

Bands would be a close call between

The Smiths / Talking Heads / R.E.M

not sure about a singer suppose I should lean towards Morrissey and David Byrne from the above bands - however as I am not so keen on their solo projects I will go for - Michael Stipe from R.E.M, although I do enjoy Enya and James Taylor
