I think it's one of many, many factors yes. And 9th isn't mid-table?

In fact, considering how "overrated" Curbishley is, I thought I'd take a look at his Premiership record after he bounced back in 2000:

2000-1: 9th (52 points)
2001-2: 14th (44 points)
2002-3: 12th (49 points)
2003-4: 7th (53 points)
2004-5: 11th (46 points)
2005-6: 13th (47 points)

And what happens when the Blues fans get fed up of middle of the table and want the big push for Europe again?

i would imagine if we had that sort of consistency then the board may give him more cash to push on. He was never given that much at Charlton Athletic cause they couldn't.

For Keegan read Bruce, OLeary,Bryan Robson, class players living on past playing reputations to enter into management and guess what they are all rubbish at it.

Imo Keegan is one of the most pathetic whinging managers ive ever seen and what he did when he had the Englands managers job well, for me shouldnt be allowed to work in this country.

BUT what a player

So much for reasonable and constructive debate ,eh ??

Keegan got Newcastle to 2nd .....their highest League finish in almost 40 years
He took Fulham from the Nationwide 2 to the Premier League in 3 years
O Leary took Leeds into 4th place ....their highest place in 9 years ....and into the semi finals of the Champions League....he also led Vile to 6th place just recently in 2004 (just over 2 seasons ago) with one of the smallest sqauds in the league and on a ZERO budget

And Yes...as for Bryan Robson.....he's pants as a manager

But what do I know ??...I mean these are ONLY plain facts

Sorry, forgive me.....yes Steve Bruce is the BEST thing since sliced, wheatgerm bread ....I obviously overlooked his whopping successes at BCFC....some of 'yers' happy now ???

Not for me. He has played some great football in his time at Newcastle and at City in the early days. He's very un-reliable and Man City was a complete shambles by the time he left. The less said about his England days the better generally. There must be better out there than him ?

Ditto great attacking manager, but there it ends
