should we use them for the first team players or just carry on using it as a youth team/fringe team. I am talking about playing players like forsell, cameron, danns (i know he played last night), julian gray, dj whilst sspended etc in these games to get match sharp it was the same as last season when he never played the like of martin taylor so when he did get in the first team he had not played a game of competitive football for gog knows how many months. i know you run the risk of injuries, but you do that in training as well. I just feel that we are missing a trick in getting our players back on form and helping the first team as well!! |

absloutley agree. Why the reserves aren't used as such is beyond me. The players that play in there regulary don't get the chance in the first team so why should they be playing for match fittness. Sheff U have got two reserve teams of which i imagine they use one for fittness and keeping out of favour players match fit and the other to keep potentil starlets playing. |

I feel at the moment that the Reserves have too many youngsters in the team and very few, if any, experienced players. I would like the team to be a mixture of youth and experience, because it gives the experienced players a chance to keep match fitness and also their experience can help the younger players to progress. |

Progress towards what exasctly? There is no continuum between the reserves and the first team. One would've hoped that as members of the first team fell off the form tables, the consistenct of one of t he bright sparks in the reserves wouldn't go unnoticed! If we used the reserves solely for the purpose of keeping players fit, then we would, in effect be running yet another rule through the futures of these would-be talents! |

I'm not saying to use it solely for the purpose of getting players fit. What I am saying is it should have a blend of youth and experience. |

Thats all fine and dandy, but wont we be overloading a broken conveyor blet. Our youth system is hardly firing on all cylinders as it is, to reward players surplus to a saturday afternoons requirements with a dispositioning of an up and coming rookie, is hardly parity in the flesh! ...We need to start forcing our seeds to bare fruit. I dont doubt that we have some toes ready to test the water, question is, will Bruce ever switch the conveyor belt on! |

i've been saying the same for a long long time, it's almost as though they get a holiday when they arn't being picked for the first team, like it's a disgrace to turn out for the reserves. You never heard Trevor Francis complain when he turned out for the reserve team....ever!! |

If a player wants to play in the first team and he wants to knock on the door why don't they play the man in the reserves. It means were keeping the eye on the reserves and the players on the fringe are showing why they shouldn't be left out by proving themselves. For me i find it disgraceful tht players are left to sit around and no be made to play in the reserves. I don't get it. |

i get it. a friend of mine told me a while ago that some proffessional players have certain things written into their contracts that don't require them to make reserve team appearances, likewise if fit they are always picked..... it goes on and i have no doubt it goes on at Blues. |

I think reserve teams should be used for getting players back to fitness and why not ?they should almost be thought of as the "second team" Youth development should be a seperate issue and should have nothing to do with the reserves unless one progresses from the youth syatem to the reserves. The reserve team football situation is stagnant it means nothing, it is hardly any use in judging players, but it the day and age where even Blues can afford twenty first teamers is it any wonder the reserve syatem is rubbish, |
