I think its very serious. It could be points deducted, barring from future transfers - even stopping people owning clubs. Very serious man.

Should be prision for any guilty parties too, seeing as it is fraud / embezelment.

Is that right Mr P ?

I'm of a mind that this can all be kept away from the police, as no one has said that any money is stolen, embezzled etc.

George Graham said he always thought his quarter of a million was a "gift" from the agent. It was his employers that didn't want that type around the club anymore, but no one brought charges. No one went to prison.

Other than losing his job, his only punishment was a year's ban from football.
(And having to work on SKY)

The police are not involved, yet...which is what I'm worried about. Because when they do (IF they do) - it'll get really heavy.

I'd settle for points deducted and banning orders on agents etc.

Sadly I fear another whitewash by the FA - Lots of cash spent "investigating" things only to end up with no definite conclusion.

To many vested interests for a proper conclusion to be reached.

I hope I am wrong and that anyone (and I really do mean anyone) found to have been involved in such activities is barred from the game for life. If it can happen in horse racing why not football.

I`d think that`ll be about right.

Well imagine that it happened in any other industry....

Say a Facilities Manager spends £3m of his employer's money on an air conditioning contract that should only have cost £1m ... he then gets a substantial "gift" from an agent acting on behalf of the air conditioning company...

it's fraud & it's a criminal offence

The storeman where i used to work *naming no names* was put on a months suspension and very nearly got sacked (his plea for ignorance saved his job) just for accepting tickets to a matchday hospitality from one of our spares suppliers.

Thats small fry compared to what is alleged to have been going on.

If the baggies are involved in may be to do with their Chairman reporting  the transfer of some danish guy a few years ago. When Megson was manager. According to one paper they still haven't traced half a million pounds from that deal.

Again according to the Mirror it is the Earnshaw transfer being investigated.

Do You think earnshaw looks like Nosforartu

Heard its the DJ Campbell transfer that is one of Birminghams dealing being looked at.
A transfer ban for all teams looks set to be the minimum punishment

Our Board ( to their credit) put an instant end to Barry's method of transfer dealings. His method was actually defrauding both the buying and selling clubs.
I can remember David Sullivan going bananas when he tried to explain it in an interview.

If I remember correctly, the points would be deducted from this season and u are looking at 10 points min.
Is the DJ CAMPBELL transfer the only one they are looking at and if we are guilty then the persons involved should be sacked and thats anyone involved.

Shouldn't we wait to see what evidence is presented, before talking of points being deducted.

Correct Willie,I'm just stating what has been said before the enquiry began.Let's hope we did nothing wrong and it was the agent

People receive "gifts" to sweeten deals in all walks of business, you'd have to be very naive to be surprised that this go's on.

No problem with gifts (calendars, bottles of plonk at Christmas etc.) and even those have to be declared.

This however goes somewhat beyond that in that it takes money, your money, and a considerable amount of it,out of the game. If your happy that some of the money you pay for your ticket ends up in the bank account of an agent or a manager rather than in the account of the club you support I think you'll find yourself in a minority.

Whoever is involved, whichever clubs, you can be sure of one thing. They already earn more in a week than most of us earn in a year. Greedy buggers.

No you said surprised - I suppose it depends on which area of business your in. I've spent the last 30+ yrs working in the public sector and I know of only 2 cases where such activities have occured and both of them lead to dismissals.

It may go on in other areas but that's no reason to condone it.
