The only aspect I would moan about was the crowd. When the liverpool fans sang your support is fing shi'te I agreed with them.

Funniest post I've read in ages!

Moan, moan, drivel, moan. Followed by "glad I was unable to get there" - another loyal fan then.

How do you make comments like "terrible midfield", "no atmosphere" (i agree, but if you turn the volume up on your remote then it may have helped a bit, or is it just a little too far out of your reach and you can't be bothered to get up for it)

What did Nafti do wrong either? He was subbed and was disappointed, I say great!
He clapped the fans as he went off and was just upset. I'd rather that than merryily jog off and not care like half our squad last season. You ask for passion then complain when you get some!?

I think you all need a reality check, we played a quality premiership side and lost 1 - 0 in a game that was totally irrellevant. Surely the most important issue this season is to return to our true league - The Premiership. Nothing else matters ! ! ! KRO

A fair result but a disappointing Liverpool side that would have been annihilated if they'd played Southend on last night's form! In the middle, Bellamy was anonymous - we're lucky Crouch didn't travel down for this game.

No commitment and no skill in the Blues team and I refuse to believe that these players get any sort of coaching together.

Jerome and Campbell are a total waste of space!

why does that mean we HAVE TO LOSE? FFS why is it there is no belief in our club. we get to the edge of the area and stop. its a culture at the club. If blues are 1-0 up in the 9th minute Tom Ross always says "81 MINUTES TO GO". Thers just a negativity.i like bruce, didnt want to mention him but i feel i have to. Just because we play liverpool does that mean we cant run or jump or move? Its the kind of negative mindset we have in our club
'Oh well it was liverpool'
SO WHAT. Im sick of these excuses. They didnt even play that well at all. Im appaled tonight, feel worse than norwich as i've voluntarily came tonight with it being a cup game, like the other fans. 25000 turned up and thats what they are "treated" to.

You're right there is a negative attitude and that attitude I'm afraid is down to Bruce & Black. We went out trying to limit the damage and got what we deserved; a defeat.

If this team was a horse and Bruce was the jockey there would be a legitimate outcry from the betting public and a stewards inquiry.

I watched the game up here with a few neutrals (as you can only take so much time as holiday from work to get back to watch Blues - bloody weekday fixtures) and TBF the general consensus was that it was a very dull game in which we created little and my impression was that we looked like a team who went out with the sole instruction of don't lose by too great a margin. My attempts albeit forced to convince them (the neutrals) it really wasn't all that dull and uninteresting fell very much on deaf ears (but as they are my most likely prospects for company in pub games it was worth a shot)

I sent a few text messages to a friend who was able to go and even allowing for his generally overly optimistic outlook on all games he seemed to be seeing something that wasn't evident from the TV coverage as he seemed to think that we were playing well and were in control (first half). Whilst I wouldn't say it was fair to describe us as playing badly as we seemed to be following the aforementioned (speculative) battle plan, it just made a terrible game to watch on TV but maybe the perspective from at the ground was different as I often find it to be.

ive left the game tonight and i feel like the owners have just bent me over for a laugh
how can you 'DISMISS' a game where people open their wallet and hand over their OWN HARD EARNED cash to watch it? Do the players not value our money?

People work in the poorest of jobs and pay their money yet we should 'forget it' and 'its only the cup'? The attitude stinks and its rediculous. If we had no intention of winning whats the flippin point in playing. We were dreadful tonight, worse than the norwich game. No urgency, nothing. Long balls. No atmosphere aswell, partly due to the lack of drive and movement in the team.

Im shocked that we can just forget this performance...wake up...not every1 has money to waste like that.

It's the PLAYERS not the owners that play the game.

And we were serious, we had a good team on the park but were simply not good enough tonight.

i'm a bit surprised at all the negativity aimed at the lads for last nights game. i thought they stood up to the challenge pretty well, as did rafa benitez who said we are a decent team who ran them close - i know who's opinion means more to me, and it isn't the constantly whinging crowd on here who are so steeped in their contsant damnation of blues they don't recognise a good performance against a very good side when it's in front of their faces.
and don't tell me to take of my blue tinted's, you should put a pair of objective glasses on and see things as they are, not how you expect or want them to be... <_<

Well for what its worth i think it was a fair performance, yes we lacked a little cohesion at times but i believe some of the players had saturdays game in mind.

To be honest i thought we had two great chances and Dudek made good saves, plus we were denied a clear edge of the penalty box free kick by the official and the liverpool player should have walked.

At the end of the day Liverpool had a bit to much for us and took their chance, it was a fair result and nothing to get down about.

I have been very critical of the manager for ages but iam not down about last night, for me Saturday is what matters, ultimately promotion must be put above all other considerations, the cups are a nice rest from the league for us all.

So lets be positive people and make it five out of five in the league.

KRO.

I honestly thought the performance was pretty good against the 'pool. Albeit we lacked the skill in the final third, we still had really good chances and should have put one away.

I usually agree with the negativity posted here, but I think that it's gone too far.

Yeah Proccy - all this bloody whining does my head in too. Why dont they just stick their heads in a gas oven and be done with it? Or find another team to follow perhaps?

Oh by the way I went last night - first time since October 2005 when we got thrashed by the Boro.

I thought that our youth, enthusiasm and desire to play at speed against some very skilled international players were refreshing to watch. I enjoyed it. So there!!!!

At leats they are trying and enjoying themselves. What a change from last year!

Slightly off topic but I don't see why the game was irrelevant.

I would love us to get back to the Prem but (until the format changes) we are never going to win it. Blues have 2 shots at winning a major trophy every season & one of them has just gone.

Don't we have any ambition to win something sometime anymore ? Is finishing 17th in the Premiership the total extent of our dreams these days ?

Nafti looked good today for me. Quick, aggressive, won a lot of clean tackles, kept possession and calmed play down for us. I think he showed enough to warrant a starting place this weekend, he was the classiest defender on field.

Muamba was anonymous when he came on. I can see why Nafti reacted the way he did to being taken off. In all fairness, he thanked the fans too.

He looks quicker, stronger and more muscular. **thumbup

I can't believe no one has mentioned Sadler. He was shocking. Aside from all the miskicked balls... we had a full on counter attack where we could of broke into the box, he ran half heartedly down the wing, only had to beat one man, but so skill-less that he turned back and passed to a defender. That is UNBELIEVEABLE, any other left back with confidence would of driven it all the way to the goal... it was a great opportunity and he didn't want to take it.

Kelly, Sadler, Gray were all shocking for me.

Jaidi looked very solid and calm today. Bruce has to work on making him more mobile, maybe losing unnecessary muscle, he doesn't use his power in his play... no point in it, IMO.

I think we desperately need two new full backs in the transfer market. Kelly was anonymous and Sadler was just shocking... worse than Clapham. Despite Clapham being slow he could at least deliver a ball.

**thumbup excellant post

was only a cup game anyway didnt mean anything
now if we play like that against barnsley then i will be afraid

So cup games r not important?

Please stop talking in text talk.... also its not important if you think about our other engagments.

So what is the point of entering it in the 1st place? [/QUOTE]
Increased revenue for the club!!!!

Quite happy with the result not disgraced, and that Poor Liverpool team posters mention would be top of the Championship by a country mile. It was Liverpool who shoved three or four up the vile recently? They only managed 1 against the Blues, we clearly played rubbish.

I am not pro Bruce but I sometimes wonder what some of the posters on this board expect from Blues, if you have been supporting them for a number of years you will know everything is done the hard way.

If some of the postings on this board are from genuine Blues fans then I worry for the club in the future, I just hope that many of the posters, not necessarily who disagree with myself but who put moronic postings up are from the dark side and will disappear back there when their own team does something to keep their attention.

I have to agree with u bluemoon.we didnt have a clue.no passion and tactically it was pre-season football.have to disafree with u on the nafti comment thou,at least he will get stuck in unlike julie ann gray.
my biggest disapointment tonight was the blues fans.i know some will give me grief now but we were an embarrassment.we must have the worst fans in the country now.everyone we play they all comment on how **** our support is and u have to agree.the truth shouldnt hurt.i know some will say that we have nothing to shout about but lack of desire from the stands means lack of n cant be bothered on the pitch.the three arsenal lads must be hear more noise at a reserve arsenal match.to everyone that sat n didnt get behind the lads last night u are a disgrace to the club.some div told me to shut up when i started singing and my reaction had a steward and the law watching me as if id committed a crime.leave ur library ticket at home the next time u all go the match.

Back to normal then, the moaners delight in a loss, even though it is to a champions league side! I thought we performed ok, and the result certainly did not disgrace us. Some people should support Southend, if they think a single victory over United plus a quarter final place and relegation to League 1 is what they prefer. I know I would prefer a reasonable result against Pool and to be pushing s for promotion to the Premiership. I think Bruce and the lads did ok and I put much more importance on Saturdays game and supporting our team.

i know some of you call me boring boring maulley but i cant believe some of you are having a go at the team because you lost to liverpool. what ever team they put out it is still liverpool with loads of experiance etc. the run blues are currently on in the league is exceptional so why dont you get behind the team, get behind bruce and cheer them on to the premiership where you all belong. you lost 1-0 to one of the biggest most respected sides in europe for gods sake in a cup that really is not that important. stop bloody moaning and go for it.
boring boring maulley. KRO.
