I must be one of the few who actually rate Gray. He has played some very good games for us and he is on the few creative players we have. What I don't understand is why some of the crowd single him out, but at the same time praised jarosik last season. All the criticisms of Gray could be made of Jarosik, but for some reason he wasn't singled out. Clearly Gray has known for a while that large sections of the crowd don't like him - this is hardly going to fill him with confidence and make him play better. So I have to agree with the original poster that with backing he maight actually deliver on a regular basis.

Several sources indicate he is on his way to Charlton for 300k, as Dowie wants him in a 4-5-1 formation.

I think Julian has the ability.

We can get him playing well if we all support him!

I have been.

I am not one of those who think he is a waste of space.

It was interesting to compare his contribution to Pennant's in the Liverpool game.

Nothing between them in my opinion, and certainly nothing to make him a scapegoat about.

Having said that, I can't see that either of them are worth £6m.

All that dosh for Jemaine was a good piece of business.

I do wish that both of them would play up to their potential.

Its true some people did boo when he came out at half time, its disgusting really, how anyone can do that and then expect the guy to perform miracles on the pitch for you the following week is beyond me. Would anyone on here be able to perform well at work if they were being constantly being berated by other members of staff, give the kid a chance to express himself ffs, hes obviously suffering from a chronic lack of confidence, someone else on this thread compared him with Jarosik, the difference between them is that Jarosic had plenty of self confidence, almost to the point of being arrogant, if Gray had some of that hed be a world beater. Id love to see him get the ball and hear the crowd chanting 'julian, julian' like we used to to Julian Dicks(showing my age now!), he needs to feel that were right behind him all the time, and we should be!

For me Gray has all the abilty to suceed at the top level but unfortunalty his attitude is all wrong. I dont care about confidence lets be honest nearly all pro footballers are up there own backside and think they are the best thing since sliced bread! Gray for me doesnt want to play for the club anymore he cant be bothered to chase things down or bust a gut for the team. Against Liverpool i think Bruce did the right thing probably told Gray to make a point "go out and show everyone" unfortunalty he feel on deaf ears i fear. Bruce knows McSheff upfornt with Bendtner looks the best but he needs to play someone on the left instead, at the mo with Jonty injuried Larsson is on the right otherwise i think he would be out there so the other option is Gray but his performance against Liverpool has sealed his fate.
