Maybe the club should set up a virtual footy team, for all the "fans" on here who constantly moan moan moan, but never attend a game. You could have your own manager and everything, that you could moan about, instead of having an impact on the "real" team and "real" fans. Discuss/ |

We've won 5 on the bounce and not conceded a single goal and the ticket prices were down today. The attendance was just over 19,000. There's a bigger problem at St Andrews and it wont change with results. |

I posted a while ago that if you take the 4 yrs in the prem out of our attendance figures our gates are approx the same as they were before we went up. Why any one is suprised at them is beyond me. |

Willie have you pointed this out to DS and Co? - They're the ones doing most of the moaning about the attendances. |

I agree with you there. So why do you think they keep harping on about it? All I can put it down to is some sort of preparatory smoke screen to justify little or no activity in January. Although the probable sale of Upson may force their hand unless they manage to engineer a situation whereby the sale goes through very late in the window. |

I was thinking he was being polite, i was thinking more along the lines of rats and sinking ships myself. Upson was always going to leave sadly for him he started to beleive his own publicty and, he's not as good as he thinks he is. |

Am I reading you right Willie? You think that maybe DS is preparing an exit strategy and will use his perception of reduced support as a reason? |

salad i quoted what DS had said. His words not mine. My own views are, that there are a lot of people who once we went down suddenly became less interested in attending games, Now instaed of coming out and admitting it they decided to blame it on the prices, the manager the board the football in fact anything they can think of. Salad as you well know i have stated my views on Bruce many times in the past and he has wasted a lot of money and made horrendous mistakes. but that was then. this is now some of the mistakes are still evident but i have supported this club too long to desert it now. |

Before the game today the announcer mentioned that for the Wolves game next Saturday the ticket office would be selling family tickets priced at £35 for two adults and two children. IMO the club should be congratulated for making such an offer and hopefully we will get a bigger attendance for this derby than we did against the Baggies. :applause: :applause: K R O ! |

if the owners dont listen to what the fans want then what does he expect bruce should of walked xmas time last year, every game was painfully poor and the fans kept on publically showing their dissatisfaction after games and at half time, i was one of them who did vent their feelings until we fully knew that we were just getting ourselves that wound up and upset and the board didnt care, so whats the point in paying money towards the club when you feel you have been treated as if you didnt exist, i am not paying anymore money as I feel that strongly about it the FACT is that the fans of this club were treated poorly for the last few years based on the revenue from the premiership, we only accounted for a small percentage of sales whilst in the top flight and now we have lost top flight status the club are now trying to create a bond again, making out we are important, well they are right cos there is no money in this league except for gate receipts and season ticket sales plus the sales of our top players, if they want the fan base back along with the die hard vocal supporters then they have to listen to them, purely giving supporters discounts on games based on previous poor attendances is naieve, they will have to do a lot better than that ! |

Birmingham City Football Club is a club with a massive local fanbase that's passionate about football regardless of the fact that we've won nothing. At the moment our board have decided to see us as blind foolish 'numbers' that will pump money, time and effort into our club and accept whatever they decide upon. This club has had nothing over the years apart from Brummie personality and passion for football; this passion and personality is being sucked out of the club by people not listening to the fans. We all understand that the club has to be run as a business in order to survive in today's football world but it has gone too far. DS if you want fans to come back, you need to start to listen to them. The 'them' and 'us' divide is getting bigger and the more you attack the fans the more you alienate yourselves from them. |

Mandy, you're right this club does have a massive fan base. problem is that massive fan base only shows itself when there is a Daf final, a lge cup semi final, a play off final. the rest of the time its average. I am sure there is data somewhere which would show our average attendance for the 4 years before promotion. (i cannot find any though) Its my opinion that 75% of the so called missing fans are the ones who were only interested in BCFC when it was in the prem.
Surely this applies to All football clubs, in fact that could apply to most service orientated companies the sad fact is the £££££ is king, the price's are high and in an ideal world should be reduced but if we look around at other local clubs there are some who's prices are on average higher!!! it does not seem to affect them too much .
Surely the them and us divide is a direct result of the attacks on the club by its own fans, who it seems to me think its ok to say whatever they like no matter how personal or downright spiteful that may be, but when they themselves are questioned they do not like it. Maybe those that attack the club at every opportunity should put their efforts into supporting it. The only way DS will see those missing fans again is when the club is promoted. then the debate about the ground not being big enough will raise its head again. |

Which is exactly why the Main Stand should now be redeveloped. Given the gates, this is the ideal time to do it.........That is if the Board want to invest any further and that I very much doubt. |

Very well written reply ,mandy...... :applause: :applause: First we have Bruce criticising us and now it's our velvet voiced multi millionaire owner who is having a go at every day working folk and the 'bread and butter' and 'heart and soul' of the football club Crisis time approaching I'm afraid ...........I mean Bruce is HIS MATE,now........I swear you could write a novel about the Blues Being THIRD is great ,can't argue with that but is anyone else coming to the conclusion that THIS Coca Cola Championship division is really a BIG JOKE......... full of poor and mediocre teams ....no wonder there are still 12 clubs still perfectly capable of winning promotion And have you also noticed how Sheffield United and Watford are struggling to make it in the Premiership ? And I mean struggling to beat Barnsley (23rd place) ........it's got to get better than this hasn't it ??? KRO |

I don't think the attendance was to bad, you have to remember there was only 500 Barnsley fan's roughly, the atmosphere was good, well, as good as it can be on a freezing November afternoon. |

Canadian.........it's getting like the old days again with the Coombes and Kumar regimes .....Many Blues fans are very unhappy about the widespread decline of the club (both on and off the field) and the last thing we want is firstly the manager to start dissing the fans and then the rich owner to join in... Loads of people on here are preaching about unity and how we ALL should get behind the team and quit the griping .....But cast your mind back just 5 or 6 months or so.....wasn't it our esteemed and wealthy owner slagging off almost the entire 1st team sqaud ,notably Heskey,Pennant,Jarosik,Butt,Sutton etc etc about how much wages they were all on and the level of the performances on the pitch.....This is hyopcrisy in it's ugliest form and won't win him any friends by turning on the 'stay away' fans Let's talk about the 'stay away' fans for a second.....so Sullivan and Gold REFUSE to listen to the viewpoint of the fans,eh ? Who provides a good bulk of the income to the football club.......THE FANS And if Joe Bloggs on the building site or Fred the bus driver DON'T want to shell out 60 quid to take their kids to a Grade A game that's their perogative...........Maybe Joe and Fred have witnessed enough mediocre games and tactically inept displays under Mr Bruce and said 'Enough is Enough' Mr Sullivan....who I believe is worth more then 500 million pounds and is the 11th richest man in the UK has some nerve to criticise every day working folk which make up a large share of Blues' support And we get Mr Bruce slagging off the internet crusaders and the radio phone-in punters as NOT the real supporters of the club........How on earth does he know ??? And doesn't Mr Bruce go ON THE RADIO himself once a week ?? Maybe Fred from Yardley or Tom from Kings Heath just happen to be season ticket holders and lifelong fans ....So THEIR viewpoints don't mean squat anymore,eh ??? That don't seem right to me CB.........I agree all the moaning doesn't help the morale of the club but it seems the stance is now "When all else fails ...Blame the supporters """ This is how the 'Blue Revolution' started against the Coombes regime who ran the club for close to 20 years Crisis ?? ........Yes,I think we could have one soon...... just an opinion, mind KRO |
