Solid performance, 3pt's in the bag, the whole midfield played well, Muamba was the best player on the pitch, although he did give the ball away a few times, he won it a lot more, and he must be the best tackler I've seen, Bendtner was poor, I also thought Jerome was poor, but I don't feel we play to his strength's, which is not heading. |

it wasn't pretty but it's another 3 points towards promotion, i dont really care how we win at the moment as long as we collect the points, thats all that matters to me, we all know that this is a young new team, and know we are starting to see some real characters emerge within the squad, and i think we will see more as the season goes on. muamba impresses more every time i see him, clemence seems to have grown in stature this season and has really taken on the "senior player" role, the guy next to me was raving about bentdner throughout the game, whilst i agree he's a quality player with a premiership touch, surely he can give a bit more for the team, i continue to think he's lazy. i dont expect to see pretty football when we are playing scrappy sides, weve tried that and it didnt work, i have no problem whatsoever with watching blues scrap out dirty victory's till the end of the season, i was brucies biggest critic when the points stopped coming in, now he's turned it around, ill be the first to heap praise on the guy. surely its down to him now that the players are battling, ill gladly hand my money over when the squad are prepared to get in there and fight like they did yesterday, it was an uggly game but this is an uggly division, and teams will let you play pretty football and mug you in the last 5 minutes, we didnt allow that to happen. as we all know its a tough life being a blues fan, always has been and always will be so i dont care who you are or what your excuses are for not attending, you cannot argue with the points to games ratio at the moment, get down there and support them, they are giving there all for us, shouldn't we do the same for them in return. we can play our football in the premiership when teams want to give us a game. |

I dont agree that its a difficult league to get out of. Admittedly I have only seen 3 games this season, versus Palace, Coventry and Barnsley, but in each case the opposition was poor. This league is there for the taking, if one or two teams gets their act together they could win promotion before Easter. |

Thought we played some good stuff at times, not all teams allow you to play a passing game. Problems imo is the team seems to be afraid to make mistakes at home, away we seem to play with more freedom. First touch at times is awfull and panic seems to set in. Finally when are we going to sort out our throw-ins we have no idea what to do. Only my opinion |

We got the three points, thats the most important thing. First half we could have been it could have been 4 nil. Some poor finishing, some poor cvhoices for crosses, but they are young. Jerome had more of a presence up there to fight for balls lumped forward. Although Bendtner didn't have a great game, he was still a danger and i wouldn't class his display as shocking. I've seen a few in my years and thats not one. Then Bruce changed the whole dynamics of the team, and we were lucky not to be drawing 1-1. I thought their shot was in. He then realised we lost something, with Larsoon swapping sides, and reverted back. But McSheffrey did nothing when he went upfront, until just before he was subbed, he came deep for the ball and ran at the defence. We lose that, when hes shoved forward. Keep him on the left wing. As for the forwards, they need time to gel. How many times as Bruce chosen the pair (Jerome/Bendtner) together? If we are intent to lump it forward still, surely Jerome, does a better job than Campbell? Well done all the defence. Thought they did a good job and looked in control. |

I've got to admit when Dannsy came on, he was absolutely appalling on the right wing. Talk about a fish out of water. He missed ball after ball, fell over a couple of times and I thought 'oh God, he'll never play for us again after this' - the crowd got straight on his back with shouts of 'wake up'. I was so glad when he swapped sides with Larsson and ended up blasting in that second brilliant goal. He looked so much more comfortable coming in from that side and ended up battling and winning the ball a lot in those last few minutes. I breathed a huge sigh of relief when he scored. Don't ever put him on the right wing again Brucie - the lad deserves more than that. I like Neil Danns (you can't tell can you) - I was cringing and feeling as protective as his mum when the crowd started having a go. There was a great move either towards the end of the first half or early in the second with Matt Sadler and Sheffers reading each other brilliantly but Sheffers hit just slightly wide. Fantastic one touch football leading up to it though. I'd love to be seeing more of that. Other than that, the 3 points are great but I almost felt as though we'd been beaten when leaving the ground, I don't know why. Also, if I hear another goal 'sponsored by Floors to Go' and substitution 'sponsored by Flybe' (mind you at least we can do the 'who are ya' to drown out that one), I think I'll spit. Blues, listen, hearing those words constantly makes me not want to use those companies rather than the other way round - stop it!!!!!! |

My wife came to thee game based on "from £15" whuch turned out to be £25, as much as her season ticket price last year. She told me she won't be coming again. She said "New team, same dross" What does that tell you Mr Sullivan? |

i hate this sort of comment- football doesnt always pan out like that does it. On paper yes we should bury Barnsley but then shouldnt man utd bury southend...the team propping up our piece off **** division??? yesterday was a scrappy affair- the conditions were shocking with the wind and Barnsley came with a game plan to launch the ball as high as possible and make sure they had at least 8 people behind the ball at all times. We werent at our best yesterday but good teams win ugly at times. There are definate areas for improvement though...the fact we have to try and walk the ball into the net, the fact we dont seem to play to our strikers strengths- CJ and Bendnter need balls where they can run at players not the direct high balls we play to them. should we beat these sort of teams easily- yes of course but then wouldnt that make it a predicatable boring game that we would watch each week? get real bn68 |

i was at the game and to be honest i thought the football played was bad, but i dont think that was done to us. Barnsley had one think in mind. Come for a point and their constant long ball was difficult to cope with at time especially in the conditions on saturday. I agree with some people we really should have killed them off in the first half but poor finshing was to blame. Bendtner for me had a poor game i think that miss in the first minute affected him for the rest of the game. McSheff i thought even tho he scored didnt have a good game came in and out of the game but credit where credit is due tucked his goal away thats all you can ask. Defence was solid cant fault any of them Tiny for me is getting better and better, just hope when Upson is back he doesn't go back into his shell. I also think Upson will have to sit on the bench and wait his turn as at the mo you wouldnt change a thing in that defence. Larsson looked good midfield was solid thought they tired towards the end. Jerome played well for me not his greastest fan and i do still have doubts about him but thought Bendtner should have been pulled off instead, thought Jermoe's performance was enough to keep him on the pitch. All in all 3 points in the bag keeps the run going and pressure on Cardiff. Just remember Chelsea dont play fantastic football every week they just Win! Look where thats got them!!! :D |

I think the point was he wanted the opinion of those who saw the game first hand. Not the opinion of someone who'd heard about it from someone else. It's a simple enough request. |

Absolutely agree.. why oh why oh why do we have professional players kicking, what is no more than a balloon, up in the air when there is gale force wind!!!! Why cant they play FOOTball?? midfield was virtually non existant/asleep. Bentner, after the disasterous 1st miss went to pieces and should have been subbed at half time at the very latest. nice 3 points though, but if we dont improve wolves and preston will leave us standing on the same points. unless the defence do as good a job again Rant over thanks |

Job done - 3 points. Barnlsey came with one plan and one plan only, a bit like all the other !"£$ clubs that come to the blues - kick, hope and frustrate. In the 1st half I thought we were well in control - not one shot on or off target from Barnsley and in truth we should of been 1 up in 60 seconds and should of been more than 1 up at the break. It was frustrating at times and I'm sure Barnsley were loving the fact the crowd were yet again agitated. 2nd half, different story - nervous, seemingly content to hold onto for a 1 nil victory, no shots on target for most of the half and the customary 'WTF' substitution from Bruce - Danns on for Jerome after 67mins was not the substition I would of made. IMO Bendtner should of been the one to make way as he looked disinterested after the 1st 60 seconds whereas Jerome (who deserves 90 minutes under his belt) looked interested - but was being hit with some shocking passes from the midfield. Danns proceeded to have a shocker (but again he's being played out of position). Late goal - relief all round. :banghead: Negatives - - Lack of determination in the second half to finish the game off - but then if the opposing team has not had 1 shot of any description in the opening 45 you are bound to take your foot off the peddle. - I'm not a fan of moving McSheff up front after the 1st sub - it means people playing out of position, when there is a striker sitting on the bench, although to be fair he is Quality wherever he plays. - Substitions. - Attendance. **thumbup Positives - - Another clean sheet/back 5. - Sadler and McSheff understanding improving. - Muamba, what a player he is, I truly hope we have a chance of signing this kid, chuffed we have him for the season at least, but would like at least one more. - Clemence having a go at the players when Barnsley were putting pressure on - IMO he should be Captain in DJ's abesence. - Larrsson on the right instead of Danns (He should be in the middle, end of). - I predicted 2-0 to Blues in the Prediction thread. - I had £30 on Blues AH-1 :drink: |
