Who's coming in in the January period?

what positions do we need to fill?

  • Left Back
  • Right Back?
  • Left Winger?
  • Right sided winger?
  • Stiker

fine at left wing, with McSheffrey.
Larsson can do a good job on Right wing.
Stephen Kelly will improve at Right Back

That just leaves a striker, although wouldnt mind a left back too

Carlos Edwards - right wing. We could still do weith some pace, and that way we could always - if need be - move McSheffrey up front and have Larsson out wide.

Left back - Don't know who is available, but could defintitely do with someone here.

Centre Back - A speedy centre back, as Upson will be off.

Looks like a player exchange with Charlton may be on the cards, we want Bent and they want Grey.

Julian Gray to become a pro plumber

Gray has plumbed some depths in some of the games he has played in, I'll give you that. I'd have said he was more suited to a postman, but after a long run round the houses, he would have to get used to putting the envelope on target, something he can't do on the pitch with a ball!

i'd like to see us go in for Freddie Eastwood, i rate him and not just because of his goals, i saw an interview on him on Sky and to be honest he sounds like a true down to earth honest guy, who takes his fitness seriously. If not i see either Spurs, West ham or another club taking a chance on him....even the B6 mob could come sniffing come January.

I'd say Gray to Charlton is off now?

Doubt the new manager will express any interest in him.

Trouble is Southend want £5m minimum for Eastwood and I can't see us shelling out that sort of cash in January.

WBA have said they'll sell a star player.

I'd love for us to buy Curtis Davies. We all know he wants to come here, and our kid has a perfect attitude.

Gareth Bale has to be our number one target imo, we should go to the end of the earth for him.

Giles Barnes is another one. With Dunn leaving, we can have two wingers with electric pace and play a proper system.

I prefer Mcsheffrey Up front, hes a class act even if just behind the main striker (whoever that may be). However wasnt there a transfer rumour about forsell to go to charlton in a swap for bent, but come to think no one wants an injured player. I think that scooping up 5 mil for eastwood would be a good buy, hes said he would love to play premiership fotball and after he joins us hell only have 5 -6 months to wait :P

I'll settle for whatever stops Bruce shoving McSheffrey upfront.

McSheff needs the ball, and upfront he has to come find it. When on the let we can find him, and he becomes more effective.

We need to fill the void left by the Forse. So Freddy Eastwood for me. Or Bobby Zamora

My money's on Dunn, Upson, Grey & would have been on Forrs but with the injury probably not now!

I know this is a little off the topic but does anyone know why Bruce has said we need a new striker in Jan - when Forrs is set to come back - and not on loan NOW - when Forrs is out?! :banghead:

I'd like us to replace anyone who leaves and hopefully get a right winger in!

I don't understand why there is such an uproar about a left back we got a 20 year old brum, who is a bluenose and would run through brick walls for us. Hes solid he may not push up alot but IMO i would prefer that as kelly is always up and leves our centre backs exposed! WE NEED A STRIKER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

KRO!

Eastwood is the obvious choice, but I think we may have stif competition from some of the weaker prem teams, hes no better than that atm IMO.

I think kelly is doing ok at right back and with DJ who can go there as well I dont think RB isnt a priority. I think if we could get a Right mid that would be good, Pennant on loan maybe!!!

I think you will find that is going to be the problem with any player we try to sign this Janruary, we could lose out on player's like Barnes and Bale to smaller Premiership sides, also a lot depends on our league position, I think we need another natural Left back, I like Sadler, he's a very good defender but his distribution is poor, In an Ideal world we'd sign Bale, Koumas and eastwood, Matty Upson would sign a new contract, and David Dunn would be fit, but It won't happen. :crying:

Saddler hasnt even completed a season of football yet, dunn hasnt completed a season of football since signing for us and upson has question marks hanging over his future football career with his persistent serious injuries as does dunn

I find this funny - your relying on our injury prone big players to bring back the good ol days, well lets face it - how many good days have we had with both of those two in team - look at newcastle over the last two years with the amount of big players they have that underperform

Its all very well considering who we might want, but who we are going to need is an entirely different matter.

I mean, are we building - short term - for a push for promotion ? In which case it may be the Geoff and Stern type of player, who may not have a long future if we get up.

Or are we building - long term - so we have a bedrock of Premier class players? If we do that, it goes against everything we've been sold already about, young and hungry ( & cheaper) players.

Its a difficult question, but my instinct is they'll go for cheap, in case we don't get promotion. So that would rule out the Bales and Bents etc.
