I went to get 4 Burnley tickets late yesterday, and they had a huge pile left. We only had 1100 in the first place didnt we? I suppose it is getting towards christmas but i thought we'd sell 1100 no probs.

same here. i thought we would be requesting more tickets for this game. like we have done with plymouth, coventry and derby.

i dont know what the team needs to do to get a good away following consistantly.

i reckon we will sell out in the end though.

Working on Friday night and Saturday night so having to miss this, still hoping to be going to Southampton on Wednesday week though.

I think Christmas around the corer and a few home games in December are contributing factor to this one being poorly attended.

I dont think ill be able to make it unfortunately, my one and only visit to Burnley was our last away game season 79/80, we thought wed be promoted that day but only drew so had to wait another week, we limped over the line with a 3-3 home draw against Notts County, great memories though!

Can't go, money, time, family etc all make it not possible.

And to be honest, if you have a family, a mortgage, car repayments, gas and leccy bills, not to mention cloths, food, xmas pressie, B'days etc etc following a football home and away is a major draw on the family kitty! What other hobby means you have to spend £1000's every year?

In my experience and chatting to bluenoses for many years at away grounds, if there is a typical "away fan".
He is male.
He lives at home with his parents.
He is usually 14-25.

I'm not saying that regular away fans are not married and do not have mortgages etc. Just that over the years, those factors have been constant I think. No bills, no debts, no children.
In the seventies we used to meet "families" you know two generations, at away matches, now I think that is is very rare. This year, 2006, our away travel has really dwindled, we only go to the cheapest travelling ground. I wish they'd bring back the Persil tickets
:D

not many people can afford the petrol and ticket prices associated with away games

your easily £50 out of pocket come the end of it

£50 or championship game - I cant afford it

Yep. I use to travel to all the away games when I was that age, but it's just not practical really with kids & a mortgage to go more than a couple of times a season.

Its interesting to say what an average away fan is. There are always two generations if we go and usually a few of my sons mates who dont really support a team but just love the away atmoshphere at Blues games.
I must say that I em enjoying away games more this year as I feel we can win every game...not will win but actually have a chance. Its great to go to manu U chelsea etc but I dont really feel we are going to win...welll once every ten years maybe
Living in Manchester I hope you will forgive us for not going down on a week night but bring on Sheff W. Saw geoff Horsfield get the winner last time !
