Ok, there's 100,00 people in Carlisle. So 37% of the population made the 7- 9 hour journey to the game?

That's a lot of tractors.

Bit of a memory jogging question here. Just put a post on another forum, I thought we had the record following for a post war match at Wembley of 56,000 for the AWS final against Carlisle (the Taity t-shirt one!) A Baggies fan has replied saying he was in the Carlisle end and there was only 37,500 of us and it was an equal split. Can anyone confirm my thinking ? Cheers

Yep - you're right, we had more fans at the Carlisle game than the Tranmere game, as we were given the rest of the ticket allocation that Carlisle couldn't use.

It will remain with me always - the sight & sound of that many Bluenoses in one place - all celebrating, **thumbup .

If memory serves, we had approx. 56000 - a post war record for an individual team (non-international) at the time. I thought it still stood, but "backofhtenet" could be right on the Liverpool thing.
