Had An Idea; Moving away fans!

I was thinking back to the days of standing on the Kop, being able to meet your mates in the pub then being able to go the game together and actually stand together whilst watching the game.

Everyone who liked to sing would make there way to the back and everyone else would mingle around them.

So, OK, here goes...

Move the away fans back to where they used to sit in the Main Stand, (right hand side looking from the Kop).

Open the Railway End to home fans at around £15 Adults £6 Kids/OAP etc.

Make the Railway End open as in ‘sit where you like’.

Surely this would work again. I know the seats will still take away some atmosphere, but with people who want to stand and sing being together and those that like to sit and talk also being together, surely this would help.

I have a season ticket but most of mates don't so we are NEVER able to go to the game together so none of them bother going at all!!

This may also stop the trouble on Coventry Road most weekends as the away fans will make there way down Garrison Lane and also the coaches can park where the Players and Guests currently do, (on the car park behind the Royal George), allowing the traffic to move away from the ground quicker.

I think the reason most people sound like they are moaning now is because we all pay SO much more to watch the same 90 minutes football as we always have. Paying higher prices has made most supporters want more for there money. If affordable seating, (or standing when the FA GROW SOME BALLS), was available so you could just turn up with your mates after a few beers, more people will be able to go and actually sit by people they like, if they don't like them, they can get up and move without someone saying 'that is my seat'.

Just an idea!!

I hate having away fans in the railway, i dont understand why we give them such good seats and view, i always thought they should have the entire bottom end of the paddock, although it wont be as secure like the railway is, thinking about fights ect.

Also this way, when we do knock the Main Stand down we can put the away fans in a temporary stand like at Blackpool and MK Dons, etc.

I hope we play Portsmouth if we do and it p1sses down, then we can get them back for the soaking we got at there ground a few years ago!!!

KB tried two years ago to open the Paddock to the away fans, but the STs refused to transfer and the idea died a death.
Away fans were indeed in Block A of the Main Stand, as well as Block D.
They were also in the top right hand corner of the Kop ( as seen from the Main Stand. Until after one Man Utd game in about 1975-6 ish,(the year they went down), when the Kop was excluded to away fans.
I would think that the Paddock, or one half of it should be away fans, easier to police and totally segregated. The Railway can then be fully blues and the idiots that congregate at the Kop end would have to watch the match instead of better dressed supporters

Nice idea but does or would it fit in with the amount of seats we have to give to away supporters? I'm not sure how many we currently do and how many the mainstand can take but it might not be possible because of that?

Also what would happen to the away supporters coach park. The one big bonus of the railway is that currently it's well policed and guarded from home fans.

I would like to actualy hear a tem sing 'my garden shed....' whilst sitting in the main stand and agree with them for once. I always find it annoying that they sing it about our newest stand.

I'm pretty sure the away fans have to go there because of 'recommendations' by the police. Its easier to get them in and out of the ground than if they were on the other side of the stadium.

Tis a good idea. But i do remember a match against Millwall in the League Cup in 98 when the Railway was being rebuilt, the away fans were in the paddock next to the Tilton and for security reasons they closed Block 1 and 3. Hopefully if we did put the away fans back in the paddock we wouldn't have to have all that again when the "notorious" teams come to St Andrews.

Good idea though, the whole railway full of Blues fans would look and sound fantastic.

or standing when the FA GROW SOME BALLS

:applause:

That is the best solution, imo. I can stand up at a rugby game, at a rock concert or at a lower league football game but not at a Championship football game. Why ? The world has changed since all-seaters were made compulsory & the introduction of safe standing areas cannot be too far away.

... was caused by a failure of police control (according to the Taylor report), was almost 20 years ago, was used as an excuse for the gentrification of football...

A brilliant idea if we were playing somebody like Colchester but getting 3,000 Wolves away from the back of the main stand without incident would be a logistical nightmare and the police wouldn't stand for it anyway.

I would love to see it for the odd game here and there but it's never going to happen on a permanent basis.

Spot on, police failure and really tantamount to manslaughter in some peoples eyes including my own.

And whose to blame, oh yes, the football fans, that species of person who seems to cause more apprehension to the police than any terrorist threat can, and we all have to sit down and behave ourselves like good little children.

Is it any wonder atmospheres are rubbish not just at Blues but at most grounds now? Its pathetic but nothing will change.

the away fans are there by order of the police as it's the best way to get them out of the ground.

the idea orrigonly was to put them in the main stand but the police said no.

When we do get to be allowed to stand again, I'd rip out all those boxes that look like lean-to's and make the whole paddock standing.

But before then, I'd rebuild walls between the Paddock and the Railway, to allow egress for all visiting fans in that half of the paddock which would separate them from people coming out of Block D & C of the Main stand.

;)
