David Sullivan has a 4.9% stake in West Ham which he is selling to the new owners for around £4.1m. It stems from before the Blues takeover when he and the Gold's wanted to buy the hammers.

So could be something in the kitty for January. :applause:

Sully's motto is "Share The Wealth" so I feel sure that most of this will be donated to fund new signings.

Good try, but it won't work Mr P :D

Mr Sullivan has also said that he is not going to bankrupt his son's future because blues fans want more signings.

Its been said ad infinitum that the Golds and Sullivan are businessmen, first last and always. They have no involvement and definately no love with Birmingham.
Do you see them at the Rotary, the Inner-Wheel. Are they part of the Better Business Birmingham Chapter

Which local charities do they support ?

When did David Sullivan ever turn up for a civic do ?

Does Mr Sullivan ever appear in public without his four heavies in close attendance ?

Now Sam Hamman is also a busisnessman, and has made his packet at Cardiff, but at least he involved himself in South Walian life. And was all the more respected for it. But our board are only football fans, and Blues were cheap.
Their ambition can be measured in the degree of their involvement in the City as well as the club.

If there ain't no money in it - why bother...................is their motto Mr P :D

Thats a bit harsh I think. The Golds have always shown a love for Birmingham City, and even though Sullivan doesn't always endear himself to the fans I think he still has the club at heart.

With respect brummie, how have they shown their love for Birmingham ?

Compare them to Shepherd, and he is a much hated figure inside St James, but much loved in Newcastle (having sunk massive amounts of money into his "love" - and lost massive amounts as well) Or Jordan at Palace. Equally loathed but held in respect...........(Lost a fortune by buying the ground for the future fans).
Look at Blackburn or Wolves, they have had owners absolutely in love with their club and their city.

The Golds and Sullivan mean nothing in Birmingham, they are outsiders and are seen as outsiders. That was my point. They conduct themselves as outsiders. They have done nil for Birmingham. Compare them to Ellis.......... another businessman, and money chaser, but he has the utmost respect for his involvemnt in local charities and his support and allowance of resources from Vile Park to support them.

Don't confuse a businessman protecting his investment with a person in love with a football club. In love with its history and its traditions.

are we saying here that we'd rather have deadly as chairman than our current regime? although some of the other owners you mention may put small amounts of time into things, i would wager none of it is without publicity and therefore with profit as a primary motivation - you can take the man out of the business, but you can't take the business out of the man...or some such saying...

I agree with Blooboy on this. There are several things that have happened at board level that I have disagreed with, but to say they have done nothing for Birmingham is completely wrong. They have helped build a team that was plummeting fast and was going out of business, into one that we can be proud of again.

I, for one, am glad that they are our owners, and long may they remain so.

I think what :etsby is saying is that whatever they have done or haven't done it is ultimately only to protect or enhance shareholder value.

Being popular to non- footballing folk in the Birmingham locale is perceived by them as haveing no added value to the business. I think they may be wrong on this and over the years may have been able to have got the council on their side.

They tried to bring a new stadium to the area and got a kick in the teeth from the council who wore blinkers (and thats putting it mildly) when backing the ill fated NEC proposal. If attempting to rejuvenate the local area isnt a demonstration of the boards support for Birmingham and the club i dont know what is.

I think from proccy onwards, every poster has mis read the comments. Or have they only glanced at them.

The comparison - if you read the thread properly is with Birmingham. Not Blues, but the city the area and its institutions etc. Thats the way I've read it. We all know what the board have done for the club, but that isn't the discussion point is it ? :D

totally agree

this is just another pitiful excuse to have ago at sullivan! some people are just clearly jealous of his wealth!

on the logic that is being put across then if you sell your house for a nice tidy profit all proceedes should be given to the club you so dearly love and will do anything to get back in the prem?

sorry my horse riding friend but which ever way you read it, it is still horse sh* p

the golds and sullivan have raised the profile of birmingham and our KB is part of a committee that thrives to bring wealth, development and success to our great city!

Why would it end up in the BCFC kitty?

His investment in West Ham is a personal thing, nothing to do with BCFC so why should we get the money?
