I agree that Billy Sharpe is a good player and might be worth signing, but I would go for Luke Varney at Crewe, I have seen him play a couple of times, he remind's me of Kevin Doyle at Reading, and I honestly think he could be a star at the highest level, I guarantee if we don't sign him another big team will.

For me, what we are crying out for is a midfield general. However, I dont want to buy him in january. wait till we are promoted to buy the right one. at the moment we are bypassing the midfield in an attacking sense anyway.

We do need another striker and must go for Nugent (£6mil), if nothing else to weaken preston. If we cant get him, go for Eastwood (£3mil) or Sharpe (£1.5mil). What I dont want is a premiership has been willing to drop down that will not improve us next year if we go up. Rather young and upcoming then get a quality man next year when we can attract them.

A right midfielder, Carlos Edwards for me (£2mil). Just to have someone who is 1st choice RM with others to cover that position (Larsson, Jonty).

Then I would sell Upson, (£4mil) lets be honest the club are already making noises and if a big club comes calling we will have to let him go anyway, Dunn (£2mil) as we have always struggled to fit him into our team in the centre and not ship goals and Forsell (what every someone will pay) sorry but the injuries are too severe for us to rely on him as a main striker.

That would mean not too much change to the 1st team (get them settled), some quality additions, weaken other teams in the division and give us plenty of scope and money to improve again in the summer if we go up.

Thoughts anyone?

Neil

Nugent - fine but I wonder if he's thinking why should I leave Preston when they have as good a chance of being promoted as anyone. I think someone would have to do a huge selling job to get him to leave, but then again money does talk

We REALLY cannot afford to be complacent.

We are not easily too good for anybody, just yet. If we can keep the run going that is great, but we must also add further quality in key areas - Carlos Edwards is a must for me, just to give us a bit more brute pace and genuine width down the right. Upson will be off, so i ould like to see us go for a good, young up-and coming defender in this division: a shame Shittu has already gone to Watford.

I also think another striker is needed. We are two injuries away from having a massive crisis, and someone in the Eastwood/Vine mould woul be ideal (Nugent would not come to us at the moment.)

i would also go for carlos edwards he is a great winger and that something we hasvent got down the right hand side and it gives us another option. also i think marcus bent would be good is this league but as has been mentioned he isnt great in the prem although he can do a decent job. so i would go for either bent or nugent and edwards

I dont think the answer to our problems is a nother foward. If we are going to sign a new forward it will have to be some one with a bit of playin history. Billy sharp may be a good player but so was campbell in that divison. No disrespect to the lad he tries his best every game but he hasnt got the class to score us the goals if we succed in geting back to the premiership. Jerome is finaly coming good and wel if he carrys on progressing he is going to be some player. We need to stop now buying young players and focusing on buying short term players who are going to help us get up and then maybe help the youngesters play there best football in the premiership. Forssell wen he comes back from injury should go out online and hopefuly when he returns he wil be confindent and fit.

KEEP RIGHT ON!

What about Greg Halford at Colchester, young Defender LB I think, looking like a very good prospect, I reckon he might be worth a look.

Great shout - he is definately one we should go for.

I'd also look to get Nugent. I'd imagine a Premiership Club would be after him, but if you don't try, you don't get.

I'd like to see Tebily move on and I would drive Julian Gray free of charge to wherever he wanted to go

To do nothing this transfer window would be a crime. Ever since Savage was sold Burce has at the very least balanced the books. He is £4.5 million up on fees this summer. It's about time the board showed their ambition and went hell for leather for Nugent. He is the kind of player who would help get us up, and then be around for the future too not like some short term has been. Remember last summer/January when Beranrd, Milner, Scharner, Davies, Lovenkrands, Euell were allowed to slip through our fingers.

I wouldn't mind seeing us nab Rossi on loan.

I think Giles Barnes and Gareth Bale should be top targets. We need more exciting attacking midfielders. We only have one who always ends games upfront.

It seems now the board have spent a little dough that's us done for the next 10 years. Apparently the likes of Kelly and Sadler are performing well enough?!?!?!!
