I'm fed up with it!

Why do they insist on showing the minimal amount football action and instead air a load of poo-chat and total mindless bo||ocks in it's place?

The BBC have their football coverage spot on. They may show 5-6 minutes longer for their featured games, but every match has a decent amount of air time.

The Championship, however, insists on showing far too much of one featured match, then shows just three - or four seconds (if you're lucky) of every other game.

They also have a second featured game, which isn't as long as the main one and has about 4 minutes of talk and 2 minutes of action from a filming position where you can't actually see any of the football.

This week, they wasted 7 or 8 minutes interviewing some irrelevant footballer from the lower leagues about the guy doing the Full Monty - something I couldn't give two $h1ts about.

If they spent this time giving more frutiful coverage of the football (the reason why we tune in) then it would be a much better programme.

I understand that every week the programme has to show coverage from 36 different games, but why not extend the programme for an extra half hour, get rid of the poo-chat and show more of the football.

I mean, no one would care if Art Attack was axed in the morning. It's a decent programme, but what kids are going to get up 9:25 on a Sunday to watch Neil Buchannan dabbling around with some paint and felt?

They need to improve their coverage, cos it really is getting on my nerves. It's got to the point that if Blues aren't the featured game, then there is really no point in tuning in.

Spot on! ITV coverage is very poor - aggravated by lots of drivel which is of no interest to the average football fan. Just pap to fill in the time.

Good result for us Saturday. The newspaer reports are glowing! KRO

Must admit that I'd not looked at this program until yesterday, and I don't think I'll bother again. That guy doing the chat is really annoying - if I'd been a Preston or Palace player when he was there mouthing off to the camera in the middle of the teams coming on to the pitch, I'd have elbowed him out of the way

Agree its awful. I wish they went back to something like the old Endsleigh football extra. MOTD was better (and will be next season when we're up and have a decent manager), except for the pointless 'community feature'.

Lets be honest, Sunday mornings are fit for only one thing; Hollioaks onmibus (fit girls in small white T-shirts regardless of the weather).

Why call it 'the championship' when they waste half the programme showing footage from other leagues?

Disagree about the presenter 'though, he does a decent job and can be quite witty.

Your subbuteo probably gives better coverage of the action than The Championship. At least you'd get a bit more time and you could actually see what's going on.

Give me a script and a goal post to lean against and i'll sound witty.

i couldnt agree more Will!

what the hell was up with that Full Monty piece they did? it was the most pointles thing ever. no-one's even heard of the guy.

and they barely show the build up to goals, and don't give ANY indication of how each team was playing because the coverage for most teams is so short.

and you're also right about saying if Blues arent featured, there really is no point in waiting 40 minutes to see a 5 second clip of Blues.

what's that program on ITV late at night that's replaced Central Soccer Night? (the host is Nick Hancock and Sarah Jane Mee) even they don't show extended footage of local Midland team games

Its the camera work that annoys me on the round up. The camera men are clearly told to just watch the ball and that is exactly what they do. So much so that the camera flies from one side to the other and because they zoom in so close on the ball you get no perspective of the goal or the build up play.

Unless it's a featured game they only use 1 camera positioned around the middle of the pitch and this has to cover the whole game and it can be difficult to do. On several occasions they have missed important events while swapping tapes and batteries.

What really hacks me off is that they are still shooting 4:3 ratio for these games when ITV went 16:9 for delivery ages ago and can't even be bothered to convert it to 16:9.

Yeh, the 4:3 leaves black bars on the side. Absolutely rubbish.

And on some featured matches, like Blues vs Crystal Palace if I remember rightly, they do a whole build up - going behind the scenes of the home team...then for the actual match action they place their cameras low to the side of the goal and right by the side of the pitch.

It's rubbish!

You may as well watch the Sunday evening news at 6.25pm if we are not the featured match..they show the goals on there and I think its the same clip as they show in the morning.

36 games, yeh.

Did you read about perhaps extending the air time? Or red button access for the whole morning so you can choose what games you want to watch?....oh I forgot to put that one. :)

No one complained last season. Oh I forgot we didn't care about the lower leagues once we joined the elite. Another joy of relegation methinks.
