I think you may have given him just a little extra there fella. He doesn not have 500 billion. Not even Abramovich has that sort of cash. He is estimated (by the times) to have assets worth around £500 million. |

I would suggest or guess that Blues have spent just as much in the transfer market as Vile, West Ham and Portsmouth over the last few years, only a guess of course, As i have stated before the clubs finances etc are a bore to me, but on the playing side eg tranfers, buying players i personally think Sullivan and the Golds have made sufficient money available for Blues to have become a decent Prem team, for one reason or another we are not, but imo i would never blame the lack of money pumped into the playing side of it. |

I have my opinions on why we went down and i wouldnt like to drag up past arguments. But i will ask the question again, would anyone on here after Blues have spent 45-50 million on players over 5 years expect Blues to still be in this league? I think the answer would be a resounding no. And after having spent money on players the boards job is done, it is up to the management team to sort the playing side of it, trouble is one side of it has done their job poorly. |

Silly old me typed a 'b' instead of a 'm' Yes,I believe the Sullivan empire combined with the Gold Bros' assets total around 500 MILLION..........Sullivan is the 11th richest man in the UK .....not chicken feed is it ?? The new 'King of Cash' in Britain is an Indian fellah named Mittall .....maybe we should tap him up ?? ....with Brum's large Asian comminity community imagine how many tickets we would sell then and no doubt the Balti pies would improve too Abramovich is worth 7.5 BILLION ....he's dropped to 2nd place behind Mittall I didn't hit the Lotto again last night Ah well......time to raid the wife's purse again |

almost every question is the same... did the mail have to put the same question over againand again!! its the same as the meeting with SB and Brady! same question just worded a bit different!! Sullivan should have just said see my last answer as for the prices I think that some people wouldn't go if they were giving the tickets away!! I agree that they are expensive but the crowds have still been down when cheap deals in place and people find an excuse not to go!! |

Fair play to Mr Sullivan for replying to those comments, and putting his point across. I might not agree with some of his comments, but there is evidence they have tried to rectify the situation. Like anything, its trial and error, some deals will be welcomed with open arms, by some fans, others will shun them. Personally i think the family deals are a very good idea. But too frequent, they will unfortunately affect Season ticket holders opinions. As mentioned on a previous post, they need to try and get fans down not for one match but two, three or the rest of the season. How about, the fans that buy these tickets, keep their stubs to gain £5 off next time, or something similar? Or 10% reduction for the next game? We need to get these one time visitors, or odd match visitors to repeat. How about discount stands? Make the railway cheaper? Paddocks cheaper? Should fans turn up expecting to get into these areas on the day and they are sold out (inevitably), they can choose to return home, or pay for the other areas. |

Dear David Sullivan Thank you for your reply in the Mail, which was honest and comprehensive. Let me make a few points: 1. We are all totally grateful beyonds words for what you and the rest of the board have done in resurrecting the club. 2. We remain loyal Blues followers and always will be. 3. It is mainly out of frustration and disappointment that a lot of fans are moaning. I am sure you feel these things as well. The thing is, fans have only got words to respond with. We don't know the inside story, and can't help financially. Let the fans have a rant, and don't take it personally! 4. Try saying encouraging, supportive things about the fans. They will then respond differently to you. Money can't but friends and supporters. Positive, warm comments do. It's a lesson in human relationships for us all. 5. Get the dream return to the Premiership and there will be great attendances again, but until then loosen up and let's enjoy each other's mutual support. SMILE! Keep right on! |

How true that is, and it's one of the major reasons why he gets so much stick imo. Take the following from his reply............ 'I hope, however, that the smarter supporters' So, do we have two categories of supporters 1. The smart ones (if you agree with him) 2. The planks (if you disagree or criticise) he needs some serious counselling on his PR imo |

he wants us to sing thank you david sullivan at every game. his stated ambition is to take this club higher than it has ever been, all i ask is that you take that ambition and prove it without the soundbites that draw reaction and counter reaction from supporters and the media.Mr Sullivan you are the one who comes out in the press and makes these statements promising one thing then another often then failing to fulfil them often contradicting yourself or your fellow directors in the process. we should not be part of your media circus mr sullivan that is one of your other businesses, and why as chairman is it left to you to encourage people to attend games employ someone to do that for you and for once ignore previous employment policy at the club and bring in someone who does support the club. |

The replies were nothing more than a cheap cop out and blatent promotion for half season tickets. The only question I wanted answering is why the decision was made to set season ticket prices so high in the first place. Then there wouldn't be so much hassle about less people being in the ground. |

One of my posts from another thread because of relevance: Just as a matter of interest.... How many people posting on here run their own Business? The Annual Accounts will show you where the money goes and where the profit/deficit is made.... When the wage bill at Blues takes care of 90% of the Club's Turnover it doesn't leave much to actually run the Club with its normal overheads.... So how do you reconcile falling gates and hence falling income with talking millions of pounds to buy new players? I am amazed that the OWNERS continue to support us so eloquently when all they get is moans and abuse! I for one support this Board 100%.... I have no gripe with them whatsoever.... If money and cost is the reason for not attending matches then I understand totally but that doesn't mean that you withdraw your support.... I am a Season Ticket Holder and choose Blues as a priority for my entertainment (if you like) because supporting Blues is part of my heritage; went with my Dad etc.... That means beer, fags, gambling, eating out, theatre trips and so on are occasionally part of my life (not fags actually) dependent on disposable income.... If I wanted them to be permanently part of my life then I couldn't afford to buy a Season Ticket! I don't even have a dog or cat to spend money on.... But that's my choice.... Blues on average cost me about £15.00 per week with the ST and travel throughout the year (Home games only ~ would love to go to away games but can't afford it).... And that to me is good value when considering the emotional ties I have with my Team! If I didn't have the money to attend the matches then I just wouldn't go.... I would support from a distance.... In contrast if the CLUB doesn't have the money to buy new players then they shouldn't buy anyone.... Those who are complaining may need to look at their income and their lifestyle outgoings and make their choices in the same way as the BOARD have done.... I think we all agree that we cannot have a low income and a lavish lifestyle.... In the same way our CLUB cannot have a low income and afford Premiership outgoings! |

To me, this is all about managing people's expectations and whetherwe like it or not, IMO the club doesn't manage expectations realistically. |

When Portsmouth were dead and burried their board went out and spent #10 million in January which kept them up. Then in the summer they spent again and are now reaping the rewards with a great Premiership season. Last January we were treated to Chris Sutton and Sullivan slating his own players. Now, we're top of the table (just) doing well with a team that was built post relegation. We were promised money, promised no sales and promised the board would do whatever it takes. Now January has come along again and we've been treated to the same rantings by Sullivan- no money, no signings, overdrawn etc etc. I am thankful to our board for all they did back in 1993 when they purchased the club for #1 and cleared the debts with a loan from Sport Newspapers. But, we can't be thankful forever to the point where we lower our expectations. It is now the job of the board to take us forwards and away from where we were when they arrived. They took us to the brink of success when we finished 10th but sat back doing nothing while it slid from our grasp last season. Then, like now, strengthening in January was essential. They didn't do it last January. What happens this January is yet to be seen. As for conjouring up #3m for vine when the manager clicks his fingers. Nonsense. From what has been said in recent months, the #6m from Heskey's transfer PLUS they money we were promised for team building in the summer is still unspent and is sitting somewhere gaining interest. The Vine money should have come out of that. If not it should have been spent from the January transfer budget that we have so often in the past been told is se[arate to the summer kitty. So, all in all Sullivan has done nothing to be praised for this transfer window. He's made himself look good to some people by signing Vine but in reality he's only done what should be expected of him anyway. Vine's signing is a great addition to the squad but we need more if we are to maintain our push for promotion and subsequent Premiership survival. |
