Just one thing I don't understand about the pitch they tryed to lay,If it was raining so much why did they not put the cover up and over the pitch to protect agansit the rain then lay the pitch.

If I were Blues I would keep quiet until it was all done.

Because, unfortunately, the grass needs to be uncovered to knit properly with the base.

surely theres now no rush to lay the turf, imo this was the perfect period of time to lay the new pitch, and not when the club choose to do so.

Not sure but I understand there is a fair amount of groundwork to do now too.

If the pitch does need to be covered because of rain, surely a Wimbledon (tennis!) style cover would be ideal. It would leave enough room under the cover to let some light and air in, but would keep the worst of the rain off.

It could be held up by the roofs of the Tilton and Railway ends of the ground. I know it would need to be a very big cover, but it would still cost less then what the FA will charge us with!!

Just an idea!!
