I've worked out the average age of the team that seems to be SB's most popular.
The average age is 25 years and 1 month. If you take out Maik Taylor and Jaida who are the old men by quite some way and replace with Martin Taylor and Legzdins (which I know is a bit of a cheat) the age comes down to 23 years 4 months. I reckon that is all very good news because it means that the squad could be together for some time and will get better. What does everyone think ? Does anyone have the ages of last years team ? I bet it's a lot higher than 25 !

On Talk Sport yesterday they were talking about Arsenal, and came up with the fact that if you took out Lehman and Poon from their first team squad, the average age is 22. We are definitely going the right way IMO.

In The Football Paper ( see other thread), Bruce had an exclusive interview this week.

"I felt we needed a whole change of philosophy. The result is that 15 people left, 11 have come in, and the average age of the team has fallen from around 31 to 23."

His figures are slightly different aren't they ?

Your aloud to take out the old guys.
Think of it as a box and whisker plot.
They are outliers so just skew the mean. Sorry i had a stats test today :silence:

I am not sure that just throwing away any data that doesn't fit the hypothesis is a good idea. I don't imagine that they are true outliers in the statistical sense anyway.

Much better, I think, would be to keep all the data and use the median as the measure of central tendency. At least then it would be the undiluted truth and a fair way of making comparisons between teams.
