hello all!

I want your opinon on the above topic! im doing it through a poll, so please leave your opinion but also please click on the link below.

http://z4.invisionfree.com/BLUES_FORUM/ind...showtopic=26294

below i state where im at, but i welcome your opinion too!

a new city of birmingham stadium sounds good on the face of it and yes i would love the idea of a new stadium. but i can think of 100 reasons why i would stay at st.andy's only with the main stand compeleted and looking like a first class stadium which i know it could be.

i want to make this clear that if the main stand couldn't go ahead like we have been lead to believe then i would welcome the move to a new stadium.

i will give you one of many reservations i have, the new stadium wants to be a multi-purpose stadium which is great, more use of it and something going on every week in close season aswell as during the season but this multi purpose stadium is going to have a 12 lane running track around it. i dont need to explain about that as a reason, just think about it.

i would love feedback on this subject, and would love a big debate on this through blues chat, but i thought i better do it through a poll so please click on the link and tell me what you think.

feed.back

thanks and KRO.

hi all, quick update!

28 people have voted thus far

and a massive 75%(21/28) of the vote would stay if a new main stand was built!

that has surprised me rather as i thought for a second i was barking mad and this was a no brainer. still wanting your vote! **thumbup

If your happy with 20,000 crowds & no hope of ever competing at a higher level then a new stand it is, though why anybody would waste £15 million on building a stand that would lie empty is beyond me.
A new stadium is the only way forward for this club & the only way the missing fans like myself will return(with sensible s/t prices of course) will also allow us to increase fanbase in future.

Don't follow your argument northside.
You will only return in a new stadium with sensible pricing ?
But not St Andrews with sensible pricing?

Building a new stand which will only lie empty?
A new stadium will not lie empty then ?

You seem very confused mate.

Thats correct m8 not that confusing really. :) new stand wont make the ground much bigger than it is already so wont make much difference to the price.
Why waste £15 million building it ? if you haden't noticed this club is run as a buisness ;) although with the way we sell players a new stand may be forthcoming.

Theres a big assumption that a new stadium, and the extra seats will reduce prices.
Arsenal nearly doubled their seats at the Emirates and also doubled and trebled their prices.
Filbert Street to The Walker - increased prices.
Northampton to Sixfields - increased prices.

If increased prices = low attendance, a multi-million pound stadium is not a gaurantee of lower prices.

agreed, i'm sceptical about prices ever being reduced regardless of what karren says - more likely is a freeze on some prices for a season... < <

i agree i woul have said a definate yes for a new stadium as they said that we would be one of the lowest priced teams to watch if they did but recent events would indicate that they would infact increace the prices.

i will believe what they say when they actually do it.

I too don't think a new stadium would mean lower prices, although our revenue would probably increase in terms of sponsorship etc, if anything the cost of a new stadium would be passed onto us supporters somewhere along the line.

A new stadium would probably be a better step if we are looking to the future and want to evolve with the times. If this current board has no long term ambition of relocating, then they might as well do up the main stand.

my vote’s for a new stand… would rather see more money invested in the team and that than a much bigger outlay on a stadium right now.

what kind of capacity do people think we really need if we had a new stadium? would be lovely to have one bigger than vile park but there’s no point if it would be 1/3rd empty... (like now!)

To have a future we need a new ground.Only tight fisted people like the board want the stand. But thats a joke as well. The only fact is the club in general lacks ambition.

New stand is all that is needed.

If we wanted/needed to increase capacity any higher than the 38k the new stand would probably make it, then the existing tilton and kop can be extended upwards.

When the new tilton and kop was built, it was laid with foundations and design that could enable it to be built on top of, aka Man Utd.

If the owners really wanted to have a 50k capacity it is well possible within the existing environs, by building a new main stand and building on top of the existing tilton and kop.

I wonder why the owners haven't mentioned this?
Perhaps because it is more cost effective to have partners (casino etc) to build a stadium for us, and we rent off them. If we went to a new stadium under those circumstances we would NEVER own our stadium again.

Remember what happened in those dire days when Wheldon sold our Elmdon training ground to Branson for peanuts? How long did it take to get a decent training ground sorted - now rented and not owned, and, not that good an external training ground either, albeit internally good. But that is another story.

Keep St Andrews, build a new main stand with the same foundations as tilton/kop to enable it to be extended upwards in future, and then if, and its a very big IF, we need to increase capacity in the future, then build on top of the existing tilton and kop.

New Stand. The Stadium comes when you have a waiting list for Season Tickets. Not when you can't sell them.
