too right - but a new stadium will attract more people, even those blues fans hiding at home away from the games. |

new stadium please........ :applause: some have foregotten where the current one is some confuse it with a library i cried when they knocked down the Spion Kop and will be sad if and when we leave st andrews. the only fear for me is we will have to move to the outskirts of the city or even solihull because any attempts to develop are hampered by the fact that we are located in a politically sensitive area and the council do not want to do anything to upset the local community. :banghead: |

Absolutely spot on Arsenal, to use them as an example again, had a waiting list ten years long for Season Tickets at Highbury. They moved knowing that they would fill a new stadium, and were correct. Success on the pitch coupled with sensible affordable tickets, will begin to fill St Andrew's. When we have sell outs and can maintain them, then look at Saltley. Not before. |

common sense approach is to move when you have a waiting list......but then it takes at least 2 years to fully develop a new stadium and in that two years our success could have been and gone tomatoes |

Application number C/01709/03/FUL Date application received 25/03/2003 Date application registered 07/04/2003 Date application decided 18/01/2007 Location St Andrews Road, Small Heath - St Andrews Stadium, South Holmes Estate, Proposal Demolition of three storey residential block and installation of new hardsurfacing/landscaping, cha Status Approve It took 4 years for this to even be approved, how long will it take to get a stadium/new stand to be approved. I'd rather have the main stand to bring the capiacity upto about 35k-40k, thats all we need at the moment. |

2005-2006: 27,392 (Premier League) 2004-2005: 28,760 (Premier League) 2003-2004: 29,076 (Premier League) we were only 2000 of capacity on average last season, considering the prices and how bad we were thats not bad, I think in need of doing just because of how bad it looks compared to other 3 stands. We sold most weeks during 2003-2004 when we were playing good football and doing well. Future Developments The Club were hoping in conjunction with a successful bid for a 'super casino' licence to build a new 50,000 capacity stadium, not far away from their present St Andrews home. However the scheme has not received the local authority approval that the bid required and hence it has been put on the 'back burner'. The Club may still continue to explore the possibility of a new stadium or decide instead to re-develop the Main Stand at St Andrews, which would increase the overall capacity of St Andrews to around 36,500 at a cost of around £12m. However with the Club being relegated from the Premier League it is unlikely that the Club will go ahead with this re-development either. Getting it up to 36500 at a cost of 12m just to make it look good and we would sell more when if/we go back up. |

agreed. i voted new stadium. last game i went to, i was bursting to use the toilets, the moment i walked in there, i was appalled at the facilities and walked straight back out with a look of horror on my face the facilities at St. Andrews are woeful, and apart the from the seat design ("Rangers-style BCFC" "The Blues" and the "BCFC" designs) and the good view of the city's skyline, there is nothing good about St. Andrews i actually hate sitting in the Kop because of the view of the Main stand. the exterior is like many factories you see around the M6 yes it has 100 years of history, but also 100 years of mainly underachievement. and didnt the board say building a new stand would result in the seats of the new stand being the the most expensive seats in the country? a new stadium signals a step forward, a significant step. it'll attract players (Henry would probably not be an Arsenal player if the Emirates wasnt built) it'll serve as a fantastic venue for sporting events to take place, not just benefitting Blues but the City. if anyone's actually seen the design of the new stadium, you'll see that it isnt a McStadium but actually an architecturally-superb building, one for the City to be proud of if Fortuna Dusseldorf (the BCFC of Germany in many ways, currently playing in the German regional leagues) can have a fantastic stadium (LDU Arena 51,000) then why shouldnt we? Posted Image Posted Image 360 view http://www.ltuarena.de/template_pano.html i don't see the attraction of St. Andrews TBH. a new stadium IMO would attract new fans more than any extension to St. Andrews. building a new main stand would be like extending the old Bullring. yes we all had some nice memories of the Bullring, but for the most part it was awful. now look at the new Bullring, it's THE busiest shopping centre in the country and has contributed greatly to the image of the City. why would anyone want to hold progress of the City back? Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image our fans still do exist to fill this stadium, with the right ticket-pricing scheme and some ambition shown by the board in terms of players, we'll fill it and everyone will forget this discussion ever took place. ask any Arsenal/Bayern/Porto etc fan if they regret moving from their old ground and the vast majority will say no. perhaps the "MOTD-watching, big 4 supporting" football followers in the City will then stop viewing us as a small unambitious club in their city face it, we need to move forward as a club before we are wiped completely from the radar and completely overshadowed by the boys in pink |

Excellent post mr potato, i really cant see any point in extending st/andy's. Their are no rail links cov rd is closed after the game resulting in no bus links to the c/centre & parking would be even a worse nightmare. The ground is very customer unfriendly. The future has to be away from st andrews, our city needs a stadium & our council need a partner to make it happen. |

it's not as if the new ground would be built miles away either. people could still go to the same pubs and whatever before and after the game Posted Image Phase 1 is the stadium itself (St. Andrews in the bottom left corner) Posted Image |

Spud, if our owners ever build a new stadium it will be a cheap soulless bowl - a copy of the Reebok, Pride Park, Britannia, Ricoh, etc, only cheaper. |

well going by their 'redevelopment' of St. Andrews i wouldnt be surprised TBH i can only see this stadium being built if A. Birmingham goes for the 2014 Commonwealth Games B. England bids for the 2018 World Cup C. something casino rlated hopefully it's A and B

i wouldnt rule out A. the plan was for the casino-built stadium to be used for the Commonwealth Games. as far as i know the only UK city that has already started up their campaign is Glasgow http://www.glasgow2014.com/ they're only using Hampden Park as their main venue  according to that website we have till 9th Novemver to sort our our bid the only other cities that have confirmed their bid is Abuja (Nigeria) and Halifax (Canada) and according to Wikipedia

How much is the stadium going to cost? I mean we were willing to pay most of it, how much did the Casino make up? I've said this many times but I don't see why we can't just get the extra money from sponsorship, I.E. The 'Flybe.com' Stadium. |
