i would like to make clear that if we were to build the new stadium, then the 12 lane track would disapeer, and seats placed there for football:)

New main stand.

Who needs a ground with no soul, when we can simply update the main stand and have a decent 40,000 seater which has history and something that is different to other new grounds.

I hate going away now and seeing that all the grounds are a splitting image of each other

it's the FANS who create soul, not bricks and mortar. and anyway, when it comes to history it's not exactly Anfield is it. the stadium is a symbol of failure and mismanagement

wouldnt that make it look almost exactly like Elland Road?

Whatever happens, the board want a new stadium so I fully expect we'll get one.

I'd like it called The New St Andrews.

I fully expect it to be a sponsors' named stadium though like the Emirates Stadium or the Walkers Bowl.

the Walker's Bowl, where's that?

do you mean the Walker's Stadium? :P

it'll be called the City of Birmingham stadium, Blues and the City Council have said.

then again Schalke 04's stadium used to be called the AufSchalke (Gelsenkirchen), now it's called the Vetlins Arena (after a local company)

it won't be called New St. Andrews because it'll be owned by the City itself.

and since they want it to host the Commonwealth games, i don't think we can expect it to be called the Cadbury's Arena or anything like that

When the Walkers was first built didn't they call it Walkers Bowl for a while? Or was that just one of the short listed names? Seem to remember it bandied about and as I do npt follow Leicester at all it has stuck in my ming.

I know it'll be called the City of Birmingham stadium but I'd prefer it to be called New St Andrews. They should name at least at stand or side after St Andrews.

Kbek, Maybe a bar called the St Andrews Suite or something, but I would put my last quid on it NOT being called the New St Andrews Stadium. < <

It was only going to be owned by the city itself if they agreed to the casino bid.

They done us over so why should they get our new stadium? < <

...because we don't pay a penny towards the stadium :D

all BCFC are doing is lobbying for it so that they can be the main tennants of the stadium

New stand only takes it to 36K and looking at the bigger picture owners will feel they'll be better off going for somewhere new, but that will only happen with a major sponsor input.

Would only want a new ground if its close to town and it has a bit of personality. Can't stand the likes of Pride Park/Walkers/Stadium Of Light/St Mary's etc etc soulless concrete boxes that all look the same.

For all its limitations would be sad to see the old main stand go as that's where I first sat on my late dad's knee in the front row in the mid 60's.

So short of something different near town I would settle for a new radical main stand with 'safe' terracing.

Must be new stadium for me and in response to the post about only the fogey's wanting to stay I've been going to St Andrews since 1969. The time to build the main stand has long since been and gone. It should have been done just after the Tilton/Kop were rebuilt. Remember too, that in order to rebuild the Main Stand, the ground capacity will have to go DOWN for a time before it is re-opened. Why would anyone want that when we've just returned to the Prem? The laws of supply and demand would mean that ticket prices would have to increase still further whilst building work continues and then......(hang on, i've just given KB a reason to do it. bu**er,).

Er where was I?.. Yes, new stadium and you could call it "The Birmingham Bowl" or dare I say it, even "The Gold Ring!!!" What about "The Blue Camp" like the mancs wanted to call theirs? If its called the COB stadium imagine the jokes about sandwiches being easier to fill etc. If it comes to it, Adderley Park or Saltley Stadium would be better.
My preference though would be "Birmingham City Stadium". See, the City and the only Football Team that bears its name would both be honoured.

We can't fill the current ground consistently - and couldn't even when we were doing well in the Prem. There's nothing worse than having a 40-50k capacity stadium with 25k people in it! If we were getting 30k for every game and turning people away - that's the time to think about a new stadium or enlarging the one we've got. Until then it's not even worth considering!

well lets look at the factors that contribute to attendances

team performances

facilities (eg. new stadium)

big name players (the stars of the show)

ticket prices/accessibility

atmosphere/experience

content with the club/satisfaction

^^^all of these could be changed, we don't HAVE to be stuck with the relatively low crowds we get now

we are not a 21,000 fan team, we have a huge fanbase, and we should make use of it and build a stadium that reflects our ACTUAL fanbase (and potential fanbase)

while a new stadium isnt relevant now, at least we're planning for the future early and thinking long term.

this is what some fans fail to see.

just because we are like this now doe'snt meen we will be in 5 years time .

last time we went up into the prem we gained alot of supporters andthere were waiting lists for ST's and that was just getting promoted , thatwould'nt happen in a new ground because we would be ready for it.

Also, it would mean that they could reduce the price of tickets if there were more seats. Because more people at £reduced would be the same if not more than current capacity at £current price if you get the idea.

Meaning that the glory hunter man u, chelsea, arsenal kids could come along to a game.

I took one of my mates to a game before who always claimed 'he wasn't a glory hunter because he supported arsenal all his life'. After one game, he is Birmingham City mad.

Thus, more supporters blah blah...
