rest assured there are 10's of 1,000s of similar cases similar to this across the Midlands, Steve i took 2 mates to St. Andrews for the first time, one for the Reading game, one for Southend, both of them were half-hearted football fans prior to the game. now they are phoning ME about going to St. Andrews  one wanted to go the Derby game but i had to turn him down because it was £30 (which i couldnt afford) |

if anyone had any doubts as to whether a new stadium would vastly increase attendances... i saw this morning on Teletext that the first game at Wembley, the England under 21 Vs Italy under 21 match sold out completely in a matter of hours and 60,000 are expected to attend. it's not even a competitive fixture, it's just a match to test security etc and yet 60,000 have come, mostly to see the stadium. can somone tell me what is the highest attendance ever for an international Under 21 game? |

1. it looks nothing like Man City's ground lol, i'm sure the seat colour for the stadium would be more blue than in the picture Posted Image 2. the image is still only a model design, for all we know the design could change radically |

Its got to be a new stadium, I want to see the worlds best teams running out infront of 50,000 blue noses singing KRO in a stadium that they will feel is one of the best in the world. Not to see the best in the world running out to 30,000 bluenoses in a stadium that doesn't even have its breezblocks painted. |

With all the talk of maybe bring safe standing areas, hopefully we will have an area where you can stand and get behind the lads instead of sitting on our hands and looking around at the beautiful stadium we have. |

a lot of people think the view will be awful just because it is able to showcase athletics. and that it'll be like... Stadio Delle Alipi but really the furthest views would be significantly even better than... Nou Camp ^^and if those are the worst views at the Nou Camp then i'll be looking forward to sitting in the nosebleed seats at the new stadium  the tiers at the City of Birmingham stadium are fairly steep, even the bottom tier is fairly steep (which is unusual for retractable bottom tiers) so the views should actually be very good all around the stadium (unlike Block 1 of the tilton where the crumbling Main Stand roof blocks your view of the far corner flag) Posted Image |

Fantasy island stuff. If we ever move to a new ground it will be the cheapest possible construction (highest return for our money grabbing owners). When the casino bid was refused David Sullivan said something like "The stadium would have been one of the best around. We may still move but we will have to be much more modest in what we do". i.e. It will be a soulless Reebok/Pride Park/Britannia indentikit stadium. At least st.andys has some soul and some history. |

why do people get the impression that it'll be the cheap stadium? it'll cost £217m, Millennium stadium cost £126m, the City of Manchester stadium cost £110m and when did David Sullivan ever say this?
find the article. because i've read practically every article about it and never heard Sullivan say that. Birmingham City wouldnt even be paying a single penny towards any of the developments. it'd be funded by investors.
oh please  why go on like St. Andrews is a masterpiece of engineering with a special magic about it what do you mean by soul anyway? the fact that the roof leaks? that it's embarrasingly underdeveloped on one side, that it looks rubbish on the outside? that the facilities are atrocious? it isnt a beautiful stadium with a world famous facade, it's just cheap cladding and glass now. it lost it's 'soul' when they put seats in and tried to redevelop it. as it is NOW, it's barely different from most of the new 25,000-30,000 two tier bowls you see now, except it just looks worse. the stadium has seen nothing but heartache after heartache, poor mismanament etc etc etc. hence why people thought the place was cursed. it isnt Disneyland. and what's to say we couldnt create 'soul' and history in the new stadium? |

Can't find a link and to be honest it wasn't really picked up on the time (might have been in a Tom Ross interview). It was in the context of expressing disapointment at the council's failure to back the bid. A mixture of positivity ("we may build a new stadium anyway") and regret ("but it isn't going to be the world class facility that the casino would have delivered")... or words to that effect. We have had these owners for 14 years & I haven't seen anything to suggest that they would pay for a Millennium stadium when they could get away with a Pride Park. |

I thought the idea behind the stadium was to go for the Comonwealth games and to host world cup matches and for Brum to have a multi purpose stadium to host other events etc. You could not do that properly with a Pride park. If the council do go ahead, i am sure there pride and ego's would get in the way and we would end up having something better than the rest. It will never be a wembly but it will be as good if not better than the rest. If there going to do this they either do it properly or don't bother at all. DO YOU HERE ME  Council and Blues |

Well by the sounds of it the new stadium is what they are going for. It was covered off in brief by David Gold on wednesdays 5 live broadcast. I hope they make it a reality. :Blues: to a new home and a better of us all. |

Think you missing the point somewhere sam, the council want to build a stadium as far as i know & need blues just as much as we need them . T heir is no point having a stadium that is hardly used, blues would be a partner in the project. I would imagine the plans woul be the same as they were for the casino. |

2014 Commonwealth Games - 8 years away, might not even be in England let alone in Brum 2018 World Cup - might not even be in Europe let alone in England Is that what we are pinning our hopes of a new stadium on now ? |

The programme is still available on the BBC website. It's a 3 hour programme but you can fast forward through the first hour (the discussion starts at about 1h05m). http://www.bbc.co.uk/fivelive/listen/ choose "Audio on Demand" then when the window opens choose WEDS edition of "Five Live Sport". It wasn't clear what he meant about the stadium. It was just a one liner. He say it is "the biggest pressure on us". The programe is worth checking out and i found everything they talked about quite interesting. |

So Lords have stopped a motion to allow a super casino in Manchester. This is just stailing tactics to give someone some time? They always do it with no clear reason. But the good news is are project should still go ahead. Quote from the Yarmouth Mercury Peers throw out casino plans 28 March 2007 The Government's plans for a super-casino and 16 smaller casinos in towns including Great Yarmouth have been defeated in the Lords tonight. The decision to site the UK's first super-casino in Manchester was thrown out in the House of Lords by three votes. In the Commons the Government managed victory by 24 votes, but the plans remain ousted because of the peers'rejection. There were celebrations in Great Yarmouth when the panel's decision was announced earlier this year. Now the Government has to go back to the drawing board. Culture Secretary Tessa Jowell said she wanted “to reflect on the outcome” and promised new proposals. :Blues: |
