Personally wouldnt like to even risk a penny on the outcome of this league, it as all the makings of last day nerves and the old harris twitching, i wonder if Claridge has had a punt on his predictions/feelings?

Claridge's Championship view

nah, seriously still a legend in my eyes!

Not a legend in my eyes.

Still remember him running out and taking the money from Leicester. Fair enough you might think, but then it was all the rubbish about, "There are things that people don't know about, it's not what it seems, etc. I will be telling my side of the story in the future" blah! blah! And guess what, I'm still waiting Mr. Claridge. Of course your side of the story is, you were offered more money, so couldn't get out the door quick enough, tell the fans, there's some mystery reason, so they won't think your a money grabber like the rest"

As far as his predictions, well it's nothing new. All the pundits are now saying baggies and sunderland for automatics. Looks like you can't fool all the people all the time, and they are realising that we aren't actually very good.

Cardiff supporter on 606.

I love how Steve Claridge is still getting paid by the BBC, Sky and ITV to talk such garbage. Football fans are not interested in his views.

'Preston, like Cardiff, are always likely to be caught out by their small squad size and over-reliance on one player. Preston depend too heavily on David Nugent and Cardiff on Michael Chopra.'

Don't know about Preston but Cardiff rely on Chopra to score goals because...that's his job! If we 'over-rely' on him then we 'over-rely' on our keeper to stop goals going in, and we 'over-rely' on our midfielders to tackle and create opportunities for the strikers.

Any moron can look at a goal scoring chart and say 'Oh, they're a one man team because he's scored x amount of goals' - but BBC, you don't have to pay him for it.

touched a raw nerve there steve?!

Well said :applause:

He signed his contract then wanted more and more money every few games. I often wonder if his career would have taken off if Barry Fry had left him with John Beck at Cambridge.

I was having a drink with Cleggy when he was down Torpoint on pre season with Leicester, when i was down there with the army, he told me that was all Bowl lox, he didn't keep asking for more money, he was told by BF & KB he was being sold, he wanted another season at Blues as he was confident we would have got promoted, but it wasn't to be, he doesn't like Ron Toss either he promised him a slot on his phone in, to give his side of the story, as he was upset at the rumours and loved the fans, Ron Toss pulled the plug on him doing it on the friday afternoon, strange that huh?

Sorry, but I remember Claridge on Tom Ross' programme and it was there that he said that he would tell his side of the story etc. He had plenty of opportunity to say it there and then as Tom Ross asked him to say what it was and claridge kept on saying he couldn't yet, but he would tell all in the future. So as far as i'm concerned he is a liar, because Tom Ross did not pull any plug on him and gave him ample opportunity to give his side of the story. Claridge thinks he can get away with saying this now as he assumes we have all forgot the details, but I happen to have a very good memory.

Anyway all water under the bridge now. Why the BBC class him as some sort of expert I don't know, perhaps it's because he speaks with a semi posh accent. All I know is that I used to hate to watch him play, he was so slow, he always looked like he was running with a bag of cement strapped to his back

I am worried about WBA & Sunderland but not derby or preston as they are inconsistent but atm wba are battering this league and playing brilliant football, and i was very impressed by sunderland at st andys and can't see them losing many games, i can see us & sunderland fighting it out for 2nd spot!

actually if i remember it right, he did say that and ron agreed to have him on the following week and have his say, the reason he couldn't say anything at the time was due to a settlement/legal worry but like i said it never materialised.

Agree he is no pludit and does seem to have a bit of a downer on Blues, and as i posted just what i heard from one side of the arguement, whilst having a sherbert or three with him.

It doesnt take an expert to predict what he has said given the current stats, but what he cant predict is the unpredictable, such as injuries and suspensions to key players that dramatically affect a teams performance, or the deflected shot like Clems against Derby that kick started our run some months ago... unless of course he has a crystal ball.

I have no doubt you've recalled the conversation correctly but it sounds to me as if Mr C is kidding himself. I remember his 'my story will come out' speech on Dross's show. Dross did give him the platform to speak but he really had nothing interesting to say.

I rarely trust anything that comes from the mouth of a 'football person'. They're often full of their own self importance and ego. They live in a world where all they do is take and can see no wrong in their own actions. They very rarely get criticised but when they do they're just great at playing the victim.

There isn't much to choose between any of the teams in top third of the Championship imo, which is why only 5 points separate the top 8 teams after 30-odd games.

I don't know why people are so worried about Sunderland. They couldn't beat us with a goal start.

Even if Sunderland average 2 points a game (champions form) for the rest of their season they would only finish on 82 points. We would only need to average 1.5 points a game (mid-table form) from our remaining games to match that.

Twelve games left and we have a 4 point start on them plus a game in hand! If we can't hold on to a lead like that then we don't deserve to go up.

Why so much vitriol, simply because he does not think that we are the best side in the division. Given the way we have been playing since Xmas, anyone who has watched at least 4 games will have seen at least 3 very poor performances.

We apparently have a talent for grinding out reults (and an admirable and useful talent it is) but teams like Sunderland and the Baggies have been looking **** hot whilst we have been looking pedestrian. I can understand why he has said what he has.
