heskey IMO took a lot of unfair critisism last year - he always played even when he had knocks - constantly recieved balls around his throat -

Do you remember all of those well timed intelligent runs that hesky used to make ? how about the times that he dropped deep, picked the ball up and ran at defenders ? what about the times when he drifted wide, then cut in using his pace to get through the defence ?

No ? Don't remember any of that ?

How about the times that he took up an unthreatening position 40 yards out, invited a hoofball, flicked it on to nobody and then fell over ? Yeah, I bet that you remember loads of those.

100% effort my @r5e. An experienced international forward on big money has to do a bit more than that imo.

He wasn't in the team to do those things. He was in the team to hold the ball up and bring other players into play. Which is always much more difficult when you're up front on your own, as opposed to when you have a partner alongside you, say a Clinton Morrison maybe.

That's like criticizing Kelly for not scoring goals.

I accept that up to a point, but it was clear early on last season that that wasn't working. Did Heskey - an experienced international forward - ever speak to sb about changing his role ? did he ever take responsibility on the pitch for trying something new, taking the initiative, making things happen ? Seemed to be going through the motions to me. Playing well within his comfort zone and picking up his big money. Just my opinion like, subject to proccy's approval.

i will never forget the last game of last season away at bolton. We were breaking on the counter attack and Heskey stopped on the half way line to do his shoelace up!
i know he knew he was on his way so that game probably didnt mean much to him but i think it symptomatic of his effort for the club especially last season.
I would much rather have Bendtner in the team any day - he might not always run his socks off but neither did Heskey and Bendtner has much more skill and always offers the threat at goal.
