I know some people are going to shoot me down for this, but I have just as much a right to be offended as a black man. WHY, when we talk about rascism, is it that the only representitives were black men? Of course, it's only the White blokes who dish it out.... If Blues are going to commit themselves to such a topic, then they need to representive of all sides. Do White men not suffer from Black men at the hands of rascism? Of course they do, so why were there no White men on the panel> THAT....to me is rascist to me.....and I am offended. |

Well said and nowadys you have to be so carefull with what you say as people all of a sudden jump to the conclusion your a racist and don't realise it works both ways! I think that this country has gone so down hill and now its ridiculas i mean people have very strong opinions but still are not racist! |

Are you referring to the show racism the red card campaign?? How many times have you seen white players racially abused by black or more generally speaking, non-white sections of the crowd. I agree, however, that white players could have been represented. |

I have to say that during my time playing Sunday league football I heard as many racist comments from non-whites directed towards whites as I did vice-versa. It's not just about those playing in front of large crowds every week, it's not even just about footballers. Having said that, it's not an issue to me who represents SRTRC but, taken from the article on the Blues website: 'The schoolchildren were shown a video on racism with participations from Rio Ferdinand, Thierry Henry and Gary Lineker.'' Now the last time I looked, Our Gary was white. What's it matter who is in the picture, it's not as if anybody has been airbrushed out 'Ford Ad' style is it? |

The problem lies with people who get all offended over nothing, we have such a "I'm offended culture" and the problem is everyone panders to it. I'm sorry if you're offended by this post, but I am offended that you find this offensive. Get my point. :P |

Now, if it was reversed, so that the panel were all white blokes, and a black bloke said, "where's the equality?"...."Who represents us?"....would you be saying the same thing. I'm not offended by your post....but I am intrigued as to WHY you would be offended? Blues have given their time to this cause, and thats fine. As long as it is representive of ALL people irrilevent of their status.....from what I can see, this is saying that Black people are the ones who are suffering. Then again of course, this topic could lead into all sorts of political and economic debate, but I don't want to do that.....I just wanted to put my hand up and say "Hey.....where's the bigger picture?" |

i agree in the main that EVERY group should be represented and, as blues said, lineker appears to be representing the white amongst us. i do think it's fair to say though that in general black/asian/ethnic minorites suffer more racial abuse by far than white/caucasian groups. anybody who can't see that is stupid imo... |

It's gone full circle hasn't it, 'the token white man'. But my point wasn't about the video of Henry and Lineker. It was of the Blues players there. All black. Representing rascism from a Black perspective. And I'd bet that even with Gary Lineker on the video, it would be in defense of the black side of the rascism coin.
I'll take that as a tongue in cheek statement...... < < |

i tink thats a nieve look on things mate. go live in handsworth, hockley, alum rock and then see if your not racialy abused. i live in a mainly white area and i dont see any racist abuse at the small amount of minorities that live, i dare say it dos'nt happen but it's not as though it's everywhere you go. i lived in hockley for 5 years and you could'nt go out after dark because of it. |

i'm not saying it doesn't happen mate, but statistically it happens less to whites than ethnic groups - fact. all racism is wrong though, and anything that can be done to stop it should be done imo... |

I’m not sure how the panel was selected, but the club may well have asked any players if they where interested and whether they were willing to answer questions on their own experiences, maybe Jerome was the only person to volunteer? Who knows? As for the SRTRC campaign if you log on to this you will see that everyone has a voice http://www.srtrc.org/ I’m also signed up to the news letter which is co written by people from different ethnic origins http://www.srtrc.org/docs/newsletters/newsletter_feb_07.pdf To be honest this campaign is another giant step forward into eradicating racism from our game and across the country and should not be demised by something as petty as the race/colour of a guest panel |

I agree that racism very much exists towards whites as it does non-whites in this country. But it is ignored by the authorities at times, and often, because whites know it will be ignored, it is not reported in the first place. However........ I also agree that there is this culture of complaining about everything at times as being offensive. I'm not too fussed that all the players were non-white. I do think it's wrong, but so what. It's a pointless campaign for me that seems to only bring up the subject that players are different through colour. I would rather, and i'm sure they would rather, just get on with playing football. |
