people still aren't grasping the point are they - Bear has moaned that no one will volunteer bring the old flag out and he cant be doing it because of his situation then why are we bothering having this discussion regards a new flag which wont change the fact noone will volunteer and The Bear will still be in his situation - old or new if its not going to be brought out then whats the point..and I have also mentioned the fact about stewards bringing it out - can anyone find the thread where one of them said he would be happy to do it with fellow stewards..? |

I am sure the Bear did mention various times that if people wanted the flag out they were welcome to do so, but no one did in the end... |

gazbcfc- I grasp the point that you were insulting another poster and are still choosing to ignore the fact! < < I loved the flag (apart from the huge Flybe logo obviously) but can appreciate that it can be practically difficult to bring it to the games. I'll happily volunteer to look after it and bring it to some of the games, but I don't go to all games. What about designing lots of small flags instead that can be permenantly attached around the stadium? I know we have a few but we could put flags all around the stadium to liven it up a bit. I'm up for a tenner either way (let me know how you want me to pay it). Good luck with it and hopefully we'll get some excellent designs again. **thumbup |

You might be right I can't remember to be honest. But if there is going to be another flag made then if there is anybody who would want to volunteer, there should be a permament reminder or details of who to contact whoever is in charge. Just so that it won't be forgotten about like the current flag has seem to have been. |

Thats a good idea and when we are sure we can afford a new flag. I will pin a post so people can put their names down so we can organise a rota dependant on how many we get of course. |

I can't believe this. The Bear iniated the original subscription for the flag. Flybe jumped in and financed it. We ran a comp for a design. Flybe did their own thing ( and lots of us didn't like their corporate hijacking). Bear took it along to matches, plus his other involvement, and we had a dearth of volunteers to help him. I include myself. I didn't help. Now, The Bear has re-ignited the possibility of having a non-corporate flag. A True fan's flag. And one lone voice cries out in the wilderness. Pathetic. What do you want gaz? Will you volunteer to help? Will you contribute? What exactly is the point you are trying to make - don't let us misjudge you. What is the problem as you see it? Well done The Bear. **thumbup |

i dont think I can make it any clearer can i? no I wont volunteer, no I won't be contributing..and it seems I am not alone in that. The bear by his own admission cannot bring out the flag at most games..as there still appears to be no volunteers to bring it out - and heres my point - WHAT IS THE POINT IN COLLECTING MONEY FOR ANOTHER FLAG THAT WONT BECAUSE OF A LACK OF VOLUNTEERS BE BROUGHT TO MANY IF ANY GAMES! IT BEING A NEW FLAG MAKES NO DIFFERANCE TO THERE BEING NO VOLUNTEERS TO BRING IT OUT _ IT MAKE NO DIFFERANCE TO THE BEAR's OWN SITUATION RE LOOKING AFTER A DISABLED FAN THEREFORE ITS A POINTLESS EXERCISE Thats the last time I am going to explain..I can't make my concerns any clearer. |

Ok lets make the situation clear 1. I asked several times for volunteers to help with the flag and got no response (apart from one lad who helped once) 2. No steward has ever said they would be willing to do the flag, BCFC allocated two ball boys to help me on the day, which they did for most of last season but this season they have been unavailable and BCFC have been unwilling to offer more help i.e. someone from the club to do the flag (and I don’t blame them either, this is a fan thing) 3. I had a huge number of people moaning about the flag e.g. its to small, the company logos were to big, which I agree but as no one else (apart from a few of you on here for which I am eternally grateful) donated much apart from flybe we had no choice. So the new flag has to be bigger and with no sponsorship on it. 4. After a string of games where the flag was displayed which resulted in defeats a number began to think it was an unlucky thing, so earlier this year I said that I would bring it out and give it another go, the resulting score was a draw and I know its stupid but I want to sway as much good luck in the way of us going up as possible so I decided that it would only come out when it didn't matter what happened. I asked the club to display it for some of the cup games but they said no one was available. 5. I may not be escorting my mate to the matches next season due to work commitments so I would be more than happy to take any new flag to the matches I manage to get to, and it would be good to get some sort of Rota going where the flag displaying and putting awaying could be shared. I hope that clears up any concerns anyone has, thanks to those that have pledged money for the new flag, we currently stand at around £160. PS I have never considered the flag to be “mine” and I have never “Not been bothered” to bring the flag. The flag is at St Andies and is available for anyone who wants to use it. If anyone does want to take the flag out contact me by PM and I will pass your details to the club |

What a load of moaning over a flipping flag. Even The bear agrees that "his" flag was not what was expected so why go on and on. Couldnt/wouldnt the owner of that massive flag we had a few years ago (I think it was nicked?) help out in some way? I loved seeing that big flag but will admit I couldnt/wouldnt volunteer to help. |

There is a Flag manufaturer on one of the Business Parks in Stechford (surely must be Bluenoses), there is another on the Coventry Road. (Again may be a punt at being loyal Blues. They may do it for cost, saving some money???? One main suggestion has been missed, You are asking for money on the Forum & we all know there cannot be more than 100 really 'active' fans on here in total & half of these are some people. You need to get Buckets outside the ground & in the Pubs before the game, getting a quid off part of a 20,000 crowd has got to be easier than trying to get £10-50 off everyone on here. I would offer to do the Hen & Chicken & outside the railway, Mainstand, but my missus is having our baby anytime in the next week or two & I am out of action for the rest of the season. Bear, I too take my disabled cousin to matches & it is tough, so your efforts are well thought of by me. Pity that Gaz seems to accuse you of things without any apology. If you can get the buy-in for volunteers or the club to make sure the flag is always on display, then I will donate, but not until then, as Gaz does have a point, if it's not displayed it will be a waste of time & money. Get the volunteers first & then try for a manufacturer to do it cheap for a good cause. Then set about getting the money. Good Luck! |

Pity you didn't feel the same about this thread then Gaz, then we wouldn't have been subjected to your negativity. No offence intended mate but too many people on here find it too easy to decry the efforts of others when they're not prepared to run their own suggestions "up the flagpole to be saluted", so to speak. (no pun intended) Bear, I for one, (of many you will find) think its a great idea and I WILL be contributing. There's my £50 and my two lads will throw in £25 each too, so make that a round ton. I also WILL volunteer to assist in getting the thing out. One thing I will say though is if we're gonna do this new one lets make it a bl00dy good un. With all due respect mate the other one was a bit embarrassing. Far too small. they may as well fly it off a pole on the roof. Not your fault. Just shows what happens when you let non fans intervene. Lets make this one a "fans only" deal. Do you know if we have to get Lady Brady's permission to use the logo? If you wish, I'm off work Mon, Tue. next week so I can pop in to House of Flags on Cov rd to check some prices. What were the dimensions of the last one? :drink: to you for the idea "It is harder to change a preformed opinion than it is to split an atom" A. Einstein. |

WoooooooAAAAAHHH!!! Steady on guys 'n' gals... let's not be taking chunks out of each other!!! Bear has made a gesture and is trying to do something constructive for the supporters... and I can also see gazzas point, i.e., if there is no-one willing to take responsibility to get the thing out on matchday... what is the point of having any flag let alone a new one?! Suggested solution... Step 1) Enlist a 'team' of people who will take collective responsibility for the flag each matchday (Bear to suggest the ideal number?) Step 2) If, and ONLY if, a 'team' can be enlisted, then continue the campaign to raise the cash to get a bigger/better flag that supporters will be happy with and proud of. (As I have said, I'm happy to support the initiative financiallly, but my circumstances won't enable me to assist on matchdays.) feed.back |

I think that the bucket idea would be raise a fair bit of money. To get the team of people maybe somthing could be put in the programme asking for people to come forward if they are able to help. |

our supporter club system is shockingly bad compared to clubs on the continent if there were supporter clubs like "Erdington Blues" or "Bournville Brummies" the head of that group could easily contact the rest of the group about a donation, contact Blues about the flag and every supporter group could bring their flag every game and sit with eachother to carry it and display it. as fans we are EMBARRASSINGLY disorganised most of the Birmingham City supporter clubs are for 'inactive fans' from abroad and they're borderline pointless it is something BCFC need to address IMO i feel sorry for people like The Bear who are trying to do something pro-active for the club but are not supported |

I will gladly donate cash, just let me know how. An online page showing the current total would be good? I'm sure we can arrange for somebody to get the thing out on matchdays once we have it. it is all too easy to do nothing! Just think how great it would be next season back in the Premiership (Hopefully!) with a packed stadium, a huge flag, viler local derby. it could help keep us up! |

:banner: I reckon we could raise that easily between the fans. if everyone donated 1 pound on entry to the game we would get it easily. we could have people with buckets to collect. I bet all fans would put a pound in, i know i would. failing that i will be more than happy to make a contribution. |

I suggest you organise the team of volunteer flagbearers over the next 2 weeks and a rota set out for the remaining games - home and away - using the present flag. If it's successful, then we can set up the fund and get the new flag ready for next season. As Gaz has said, there's no point rushing ahead if we can't get reliable volunteers. |

Ok, If anyone out there wants the present flag brought out for the next home game against Coventry it can be arranged, however (and I know this makes me a superstitious whatsit) do we want to risk the fact that we have never won when it has been out? If your willing to help out at the game please PM me with your mobile number so we can arrange things. |

supporters clubs suffered when the club took away the facilities under the railway stand.Unofficial clubs or really just pubs that run coaches started to appear and were in direct conflinct with the clubs organised coaches,This led to the club whingeing and police being tipped off about alchohol on coaches run by others.Instead of giving us back OUR supporters club they choose to not have one at all :banghead: Bear i would happily join the rota for taking the Flag it just needs a pick up and drop off point ie one of the local pubs that can be trusted to look after it. **thumbup |
