They'll ask for £4m, we'll offer £2m and add-ons, we'll settle on £3m and add ons for appearances, no relegation, and senior england call-ups probably.

I'd do it, we do tend to make quite a nice profit from Arsenal!

Definitely not a £4m player but then i'm sure Arsenal realise that too. It's all just business.

However, Blues do have a better chance of securing midfielder Muamba's services, either for good or possibly on loan.

Blues have already spoken to Arsenal and asked them to name their price for the permanent transfer of the England under-19 captain. A fee of £2million, rising by another £2million, has been mooted and Blues have told Muamba that they want him.

But half-a-dozen Premiership clubs are interested too, Reading particularly as they steel themselves for Steve Sidwell's likely departure on a Bosman free transfer.

"Fabrice's situation is one where Arsenal don't quite want to commit to anything definite because they are well aware of his potential," said Bruce. "We've all seen it, and as he's such a young age, he's going to get better."

Bruce praised the contribution of Bendtner and Muamba so far this season, and said it had been such a steep learning curve for them at the sharp end - which is exactly what Arsenal wanted from the loans.

"Both of them, they are boys, still teenagers. They have done particularly well.

"The last couple of weeks it has been tough for them, physical-wise. They've never played more than 20 reserve games in a season before. Coming into our team, in the Championship, with all the pressure and demands, it's been a big ask."

bump, for anyone who missed it

I honestly believe that Fabrice signing for 4 million is a bargain. Think about it.

He's what 18/19?

He fits in perfectly with our midfield now, and is one of the first names on the team sheet. He plays his heart out and is English.

Come 5 years or so, he could be worth alot of money. Rather pick him up for under 5 million now, than in 5 years time haing a 10 million or plus player a million miles away from us.
