yeah after july this year there will be no smoking in public places. Im glad about this as i hate it when your sitting watching the game and then someone sparks up puffing smoke in your face every 20mins. For me when i get smoke in my eyes it irritates them and they water and become sore which then ruins the game for me. I noticed at albion there was no smoking but i still saw people do it but it will at least cut down the amount im sure. |

I'm not sure about this, as I thought it was only in enclosed public places that the ban exists. |

Smoking could still be banned at certain outdoor locations that are 'substantially enclosed', such as football grounds and railway platforms. No decision has yet been made on smoking inside cars carrying passengers. This says could be banned and as KB is a smoker dose this rule us out |

The Railway is a no smoking stand and has been for the last 2 seasons. I am a smoker and must admit I am too bothered now not been able to light up at will during the game. That said my nails are now bittendown to my elbows and I rush off at half time for a quick 5 fags! - oh well 2 then. 45 minutes without a fag is no hardship really you have to go longer than this if you use air travel. I agree nobody should have to endure my smoke 2nd hand. **thumbup |

We're one of only 2 teams in the football league to actually allow smoking apparently (it's never enforced) |

The whole of the Exec area in the kop is No Smoking. If KB does smoke, then it will be in the confines of the Gold Suite. Other areas (such as Carlsberg Suite) are also No Smoking. I too smoke, but agree it is antisocial in enlosed public areas. It was no great hardship at the Hawthorns to go a couple of hours without (even the concourses are No Smoking there). As I understand it, the smoking ban from July 1st will also apply to football grounds, so I fully expect next season to be completely smoke free within St Andrews.. There have been plenty of grounds this season (in the championship) where smoking is not totally banned within the ground - some (but not all) have banned it in the stands, many more do allow it in the concourses. Last I heard was that the Football League were discussing the possibility of banning smoking at football grounds. It will probably take them 3 years to make a decision! I am a smoker but never smoke in the seated areas. I would welcome a ban. Believe it or not, even a smoker hates other people's smoke being blown in their faces! |

I'm a smoker and don't mind the ban. I never smoked around people that don't anyway. |

It wont be enforced anyway,i think the family stand should have it enforced rigourously but so far as the front of the stands etc you`ll never stop it. I`m a non smoker but i`m not really that arsed about people smoking around me so long as its not in my face, and if it is,a quiet word with the culprit will usually see them stop **thumbup |

At St James's Park there is no smoking in the seats but it is allowed in the concourses. I think this is a fair compromise. My bloke and I are smokers but it doesn't hurt us to go 45 minutes without a tab (that's geordie for fag! ) |

Am a smoker myself but like a few on here i do not like being seated and having to suffer smoke in my eyes etc. Most reasonable people who smoke would feel the same. Just wish the non smokers of the world would get off their high horses about it, i mean there are more important and indeed more dangerous things in life to worry about. But i guess all you non smokers have been well brain washed by the media etc and seem to see smokers as people who are going round spreading the plague and the holier than thou attitude gets right up my nose. |

Well said mate. It kills - didn't Roy Castle die from passive smoking? As long as smokers are considerate then its fine by me - i don't feel they have to stop - just smoke in the right places. **thumbup By the way, back to the footy. :banner: |

I totally agree with you bornblues64. I am a NON smoker now and have been for 3 years, and will never smoke again (after 10 years of being a smoker). I have three lads who sit in front of me, and believe me they chainsmoke throughout the game and I really could not care less. All these ridiculous statements about how disgusting, makes me feel sick, should be banned etc etc are just people being led like little sheep by the media shepherd. Did you ever hear these things being said 10, 8 or maybe even 5 years ago ??? If people want to smoke, let them. At the moment there is no law against it in certain parts of the ground. |
