so you'd be confident that the agent didn't earn a penny from the deal then ? |

Proccy, are you really that naive? :LMAO: Of course the agent gets a fee for organising the loan, and there of course many other 'hidden' extras - for example during his loan, Nicky Butt had an executive box as part of his package for his family to watch him (he can't think much of his family) |

Well, the thread began by mentioning Karren's statement. The way its developed is into a case of whether or not he is worth it. But I think that Karren was stating how much he has cost simply to bang on again about how poor we really are, and how much we are stretched financially.I think that but I'm not sure of her motive actually. I think Sam Tyler is right. Its the results that he contributes toward, (and his presence is certainly going to make life easier for those that play alongside him), which will determine if this is a sucesfull action or not. My own take is back with Karren, I can't figure what she was getting at, and why she made that statement in the first place. |

My word! Didn't realise how such a simple question could be interpreted in so many different ways!! How on earth could that question be interpreted as "negative"? Anyway... having looked at all the responses I'll declare my own thoughts. As Sam Tyler very eloquently put it, the question "can only really be answered with hindsight". And beyond that, 'value' is a purely relative concept and is modified by the level of one's expectations. If I'm honest, my expectations of Andrew Cole are quite low... so if he scores 6 goals and helps us get promoted I will consider the deal good value. If, however, as I observe from some of the posts on this forum, some people are viewing Cole's arrival as the Messiah's 'second coming', if we don't get promoted there will be a few who will think it was a complete and shameful waste of money! |
