I like the current format but I wouldn't mind a redesign. Sticking with the same sort of format.

Like so...

i got to thinking, i know the Birmingham Coat of Arms can only be used by the City Council nowadays, but why not at least have a badge that uses features from it?

Birmingham Coat of Arms

Quote:

Below is a full-colour reproduction of the City of Birmingham's Coat of Arms. This is the City Council's official emblem. Although it was granted on 10 May 1977, it still refers to the city's medieval origins, besides expressing Birmingham's notable role as a city of European status, both industrially and culturally. These Arms were granted to the City Council. No other body can use them. Nor can the City Council authorise their use for other than its own purposes.

i just quickly came up with....

and

Posted Image

i'm clearly no professional lol, but i included the coat of arms, the Rangers style BCFC logo, a bull (commonly seen as a symbol of Birmingham) and the club name and establishment date.

going back to the roots....

i bet i've gone and peed off everyone with a globe and ball tattoo haven't i?

but why not at at least discuss it? we've used the coat of arms before (us being the only team in Birmingham wanting to associate themselves with the City) :banner:

whatever it is, at least it means more than chAV's Peugeot rip-off

I love our badge as it is, we are instantly recognised with it, there is no other badge like it in the world.

Keep the current badge. I have never seen one like it for any other team, which makes it unique in my experience.

"no" "no" "no" "no" "no" "no"

Our proper badge, is one of the best, if not THE best badges in the football league. It is distinctive and is our identity.

We dropped the coat of arms for a reason, and as Fulham, Arsenal, WBA and others who have changed logos, there not really all for the better!

badges / logos are harder to protect as trade marks when they incorporate elements of other designs

"no"  "no" "no"  "no"

calm down

i wouldnt want the club to change the badge, i was just observing other clubs make the change and wondering whether making a change would be suitable for us.

i wonder what other team's fans make of our badge

what reason?

it was more of a case of not being allowed to use it rather than dropping it

Plus, bored schoolchildren like the ball and globe because it is easy to draw in the back of their maths book when they can't be bothered.

older students do that sorta thing too :ph43r:

Totally agree!! I gthink ive been doing that since i was about 7

I think it was 1977 when Birmingham City Council decreed that the city coa could not be used by other organisations.

I love our current badge - but agree it could do with a sluight 'freshen' up. Firstly, the ball is like one of the old leather case balls that weighed a ton - so let's bring the ball up to date! And the colour should be ROYAL blue not navy!

Voila!

Hmm, I'd imagine using the Adidas style markings would be a breach of copyright.
I KNOW the ball on the current badge is the old 18 panel leather ball style, but don't you think that adds a touch of history and class to the badge?
Leave well alone, I say. Look at Liverpool's badge for instance. I KNOW it was re-designed to commerorate (spelling?) Hillsborough, but there's simply too much in it, in my opinion.

Our badge is bold, simple, historic, stylish. Why change it?

Nuff said.
