I like the current format but I wouldn't mind a redesign. Sticking with the same sort of format.

Like so...

I know one thing, Europes out of shape like me. The only thing i've got in common with the logo, is my shape, ROUND. :lager: :drink:

Cool thread TCPH - I hadn't realised before how utterly perfect our logo is. If the club were getting someone to design one now, I don't think they could get a better one done, whatever they paid. It's absolutely perfect as it is; simple, instantly recognisable, meaningful, unique - whoever came up with it was genius - hope they went on to make millions in advertising/design.

I read somewhere that in the mid-seventies, the club held a competition to design a new crest, and apparently it was a graphics student, or even a secondary school art student who came up with the design. Does anyone know if this is true?

If this stacks up, Mr Michael Wood - I salute you! The club ought to track him down and get him on at half-time.

Here is a picture of Mr Wood himself from behindthebadges.co.uk - an amateur and very slow site but some interesting info on there.

I think the competition was run by the Evening Mail, and Mr Woods got about £25 and two seats for a match of his choice,

No royalties
