Cole clocked on at Wast Hills yesterday and liked what he saw - and did.

"My first training session, I've not trained like that for some time," he enthused. "The pace, the tempo of it was very good. I know we've got a lot of young players and sometimes they play at 100mph, but they've got quality and are enthusiastic.

"They are all big, strong and quick. Eric Black put on a very good session and it was enjoyable. I've not enjoyed a session like that for a long time.

"What I saw and what I experienced I felt 'yeah'. I thought that's the way they play on a Saturday and what's brought them success.

"If you train the way you play then hopefully promotion will be just around the corner."

A really positive comment from a professional such as Cole who has worked with the best around.

100 mile an hour training...no wonder we've had so many injuries in recent seasons.

Black's has no idea what he's doing.

Black's has no idea what he's doing.

what qualifies you to say that?

Black is a coaches coach - he obviously has some idea or he wouldn't have earnt his badge that enables him to coach other coaches would he?

I was being ironic (at least in the Alanis Morrisette sense), given Boutros' post.

i agree with the other posters, to have Cole say that with the experience he's got is surely a positive thing.

As if he would say anything other than the positive. We are now the equivalent of Burnley in 2000 when they signed the 37 year old Ian Wight. I cant believe Steve Bruce has forced us into this and I cant believe you lot have fallen for it.

Portsmouth's cast offs! A couple of years ago we were aiming for Europe!

I'll judge the clubs decision in 8 games time. If Cole can come in and do the job - and lets face it, we're hardly banging them in at the moment, are we - then job well done, IMO.

If it backfires, then we will all undoubtebly be posting our "moans" on here.

Let's have a little positivity in the meantime, FGS...

KRO,

C.

I think the signing of cole has give every one at the club a really huge lift. These comments have compounded that view for me. Great news we can finally start looking forward to the run in now.

"What made it so hard was the amount of cash I had in my pocket, it was weighing my legs down. As the odd roll of 50's slipped out, all the other team members showed great pace squabbling around on the floor"

I found something extra from this interview.... :)
