And the reason he was suspended is exactly the reason why I would not want himat Blues. He is another player who is a load of trouble.

Do we really want this sort of player at our club? A recipe for team unrest, if you ask me.

Manchester City have suspended Joey Barton for the rest of the season after he hit team-mate Ousmane Dabo in training, BBC Sport understands.
Dabo had to go to hospital after suffering injuries to his mouth during the incident at Carrington on Tuesday.

Barton's agent, Willie McKay, was responsible for bringing Dabo to City from Lazio in June 2006.

He told BBC Sport: "As far as I've heard, Joey was defending himself. But because it is Joey it makes headlines."

McKay added: "It happens on training grounds all over the country, from Chelsea to Yeovil."

City are currently refusing to confirm the identity of the player who has been suspended.

A club statement read: "We can confirm that a player has been suspended pending an internal investigation."

Former France international Dabo, 30, signed a three-year deal with City last year.

Midfielder Barton, 24, won his first England cap in the friendly against Spain at Old Trafford in February.

Yet his early career as a first-team player at City was blighted by controversy.

In 2004, Barton was fined a club record six weeks' wages after stubbing out a cigar in team-mate Jamie Tandy's eye during City's Christmas party.

Barton ended up in more trouble during City's pre-season tour of Thailand in 2005, when he physically attacked a schoolboy Everton fan and had to be restrained by team-mate Richard Dunne.

Barton was subsequently sent home in disgrace and fined eight weeks' wages.

I'd say it's a step down to a club who will certainly be fighting relegation from a team who is established in the premier league

He isn't that good a player.
Certainly a rubbish penalty taker.

And on the other point:
Blues are valued (or were a year ago) at £45 Million.
Man City are £100 million and rising.

Set the place alight didn't he?
Big mouth and a big ego. No better no worse than Bellamy or Bowyer. Not ideal dressing room material though. Much too violent.

With Muamba, Barton, Clemence, Nafti, and DJ I would be well pleased with the centre midfield options next term. What player would look forward to meeting up with both Barton and Muamba in the midfield?

I agree with Will, its much like the Pennant situation in the sense of how many clubs above citeh would take the chance on him now? This would make a "side step" or "step down" the most likely occurrence in my estimation.

Birmingham City boss Steve Bruce has rubbished reports he is keen on signing Manchester City midfielder Joey Barton.

Barton's future at City looks uncertain after he was sent home early from the club's tour of Thailand and the FA Premier League Asia Trophy.

The talented midfielder found himself in trouble after getting involved in an altercation with an Everton fan and team-mate Richard Dunne last Friday.

Barton is set to meet City officials next week to discuss his future, with reports suggesting City may place him on the transfer list.

Reports have claimed that the news of Barton's possible availability has alerted Bruce and that he was lining up a move to bring him to St Andrews.

However, Bruce has moved quickly to deny the reports and insists he has no interest in Barton.

When asked if he was interested in Barton, Bruce said: "Definitely not."

Wigan boss Paul Jewell has also played down talk linking them with a move for Barton.

"Barton is obviously a good player," said Jewell.

"I don't know what's gone on over there. He is a good player but not one I've thought of at the moment."

Absolute rubbish.
Barton - fined £160,000 by his own club
Barton - Fined for attacking 15 year old
Barton - arrested for attacking taxi driver (pending trial)
Barton - shoves lit cigar in team mates eye
Barton - £2,00 fine by Fa

This is the kind of sociopath you want in Steve Bruce's dressing room?
He was called up by England after the media went into overdrive.
He was dropped by England after one session.

He is not that good. In fact, take the speed away from him and he is quite thick in his crosses (which make the receiver look slow) in his shots which are all hyper.
And now after timid Pearce has made his final excuse for him, he has lost his club god knows how many millions on a quick transfer.

Please, not to us. Let Wigan have him. Better still let him go to West Ham and end up killing someone.

He claimed it was an accident.

Funny how he got him in both eyes.

Ousmane Dabo says he has been left looking like the 'Elephant Man' after being attacked by Joey Barton.

The Manchester City midfielders squared up in training on Tuesday, with Dabo taken to hospital after being punched repeatedly by Barton.

The England cap has been suspended by City until the end of the season, with Dabo explaining how the bust-up came about.

"I just pushed him away and turned my back to walk off," Dabo told The Sun. "That's when he hit me.

"I really don't remember exactly what happened, but I've been told by all my team-mates he hit me from behind, a right hook which hit me on the temple and knocked me out for a few seconds.

"As I started to fall he jumped on top of me, held my head and punched me twice more in the face.

"Apparently when I was on the floor he again punched me before being pulled off.

"When I came round, and it can only have been a matter of seconds, there was blood everywhere.

"I was spitting blood and my eye was clouded over when I realised what had happened. I wanted to go after him."

After receiving hospital treatment for his injuries, Dabo said: "When I woke up this morning I looked at myself in the mirror with my face all swollen up and I looked like the Elephant Man.

"I've never known anything like this before in my career."

:copno: Don't want him. He is overrated and a trouble maker.
