They fully deserved to go through against Man Utd last night. Over the two legs they were the better team. What really annoyed me about the game last night was how Sir Alex was going on about how Man Utd aren't going to just defend for 90 mins and will attack all game. So what was with Rooney up front on his own when they had Saha, Smith and Ole on the bench? Most the Milan players before the game were commenting on how they didn't see Ronaldo as the main threat, but were worried about trying to contain Rooney. That was easy for them once it was announced he would be on his own, they just had one or sometimes two men marking him at any given time. And the fact it took Man Utd 75mins before bringing on another striker was shocking. Attacking football my bottom. And what was with making Darren "sideways" Fletcher and Michael "give me the ball 'cause I won't try to win it myself" Carrick BOTH play an anchor role? That was just asking for trouble. Seedorf and Kaka just had too much quality for them. They lacked a player in midfield who can fight and win the ball and lay it off to the likes of Scholes, Giggs, Ronaldo and Rooney. They needed a Keane in there (or a Hargreaves?). Man Utd were just too one dimensional. Giggs and Ronaldo also having a bad day at the office didn't help. Neither could keep the ball and play a through ball to open up the defence (mainly because there was only ever Rooney in the box surrounded by 2 or 3 defenders). Taking nothing away from Milan though. They were playing quality football at times in both legs and I really can't see Liverpool beating them in the final this time. Unless of course Gattuso, Kaka, Seedorf and Nesta get injured somehow and miss the final!! Or if it goes to penalties ;) |

He played a 4-3-3, about as attacking as he could with the players he had available. Milan just played better. It is going to be nice to see the 3rd best team in Italy play the 4th best team in England to be crowned the best team in Europe. Not to mention the side that cheated last season versus the side playing a cup-tied player this. Doesn't devalue the tournament at all. |

Roma are 2nd in the Italian League, one place higher than Milan, but if you want to try and convince me that Roma are better than Milan then go ahead but I bet you £50 you won't be able to. Its no coincidence that Milan and Liverpool are in the final again. They're the best teams in European competition that each country has produced. |

Oh and 4-3-3? From what I saw, they lined up: Fletcher, Carrick Ronaldo, Scholes, Giggs Rooney not Fletcher, Scholes, Carrick Ronaldo, Rooney, Giggs They played 4-2-3-1 or to give it its proper formation, 4-5-1 ;) They couldn't have been more negative if they tried |

:applause: :applause: Well man U as supposedly the "best team in england" are certainly not the best team in europe and obviously not the best in the tournament. Not only are they out in the semi, but they lost to FC copenhagen and celtic on the way. Milan are a great team, Liverpool are a great team, and if you dont believe that then look who they have beaten on the way, defending champions Barca, Dutch Champions (admittedly poor PSV) and the "2nd best" team in England in a game which they fully deserved to win. |

Watched the game last night an i too was a bit perplexed and surprised by their negative tactics but as they say you can only play as well as the other team lets you and i thought Milan were superb. Does anybody else think Seedorf is playing better now than ever?? Theres a big change in him from a few years ago. |

Of course it's no coincidence, neither of them have been remotely interested in their domestic leagues for the last four months, leaving every one of their key players fit and fresh for the Champions League. Thus, the sides like United and Chelsea who have actually been trying to win other competitions, are screwed. The week before playing United, Milan rested ALL eleven of their first team. Whilst this sort of practice continues, the top sides don't stand a chance. Liverpool and Milan know, because of their budgets and squads, that they can finish top four and guarantee themselves CL football next season without really pushing themselves, and then they get to attack the CL only whilst the truly great sides fight it out for domestic titles as well. United were dead on their feet against Milan, a direct result of actually having the ambition and the sporting ethic to try and win each competition they enter instead of picking and choosing. And the team Liverpool put out against Portsmouth the weekend before was a spit in the face of every other side chasing a UEFA Cup spot. Total lack of respect for the Premiership. It's a ludicrous state of affairs, and it's only going to get even more farcical. Not to mention that following the match-fixing scandals Milan shouldn't have been in the competition, or that Liverpool are playing Mascherano who by all rights should be cup-tied after playing for West Ham in the UEFA Cup. For some reasons the rules don't seem to apply though. |

I think if you look at Milan's league form the past few months, you'd realise just how wrong you are. They've been going all out for a top 4 spot. |

Absolutely. I think some weight is off his shoulders now that Milan rely more on Kaka to create and score goals. It allows him to just hang around the space between the half way line and the penalty box so he can just pick up balls and lay them off to Kaka but still push forward. It really suits his style of play and Kaka just relishes the pressure from what I've seen of him this season. Apparantly, Ancelotti was saying how he'd love to have Ronaldo (the fat pie eating Brazillian one) up front with Kaka and Ronaldo (the diving pretty boy Portugeezer) behind him, but I think thats a bit disrespectful to Seedorf, he's been brilliant for them in the CL this season playing in that position he wants Cristiano to play in. |

Seedorf plays a completely different role to Cristiano Ronaldo, very much a holding midfielder now with brains. I think you could accomodate them in the same team, why not? |

I've been following Serie A all season, and it's a horrifically weak league from which Milan were always going to get into the top four, especially once the points penalty was reduced. Hence why they have been naming teams for Serie A fixtures containing precisely no players they wished to risk for the Champions League. |

I dont think theres anything wrong with doing that. If brum were guaranteed to finish in the play offs this season but couldn't make to auto promotion spots but, say they were in the semi's of the fa cup, then i'd be urging them to rest players too. it just makes sense to do that. |

Serie A is a weak league? That is a bizarre comment. Did you see where Milan were in the league at the turn of the year? They've been playing a very strong team week in, week out. |

Milan are still the best team in Italy IMO their season has been hampered by the points deduction. it's no surprise Inter and Roma have flopped in the Champions League this season because they are much weaker than Milan i will pray that i don't hear the phrase "We've won it SIX times" from the gloryhunter Liverpool fans in Brum and that Milan go on to win despite the scandal Milan have been involved in, at least they've been champions of their own country at least once within the last 15 years. btw, did anyone catch football focus this morning, seeing all the "Brummie Reds" in the Sports Cafe on Broad Street cheer Liverpool like they were born and bred scousers. one guy was like "we are a national institution blah blah blah" we? pffft < < next time Brazil win the World Cup, i'll wait for the same guy to disassociate himself with his own country and pretend he's Brazilian |

:D Do you support Man U or something. Who cares about champions league - i like it when different teams win different trophies, not really a fan of people winning everythin. And to claim United were dead on there feet etc, i dont think this is true at all, nor chelsea. You cant blame being near the top of the league for not winning a cup. And as for showing disrespect to the Prem, are you having a :LMAO: . So they should play there full strength team in a competition they are effectively 'out of' if you like, and say risk an injury and going out of one they can win.
i didnt see em, but i can imagine it was embarrassing to watch. Then again, if you want Milan to win cos of that, you will always want the foregin team to win, cos theres loads of 'Mancs' in Bham too. And it will only get worse unless we do something to get kids going to blues with their mates, gettin ST's there (so not forcing them to sit in ONE stand) - i know if i didnt go to blues i would probably have a sky team - why would i support my local team if i cant even afford to go to the games. when i can watch "my sky team" on tv. |
