Oh and by the way if we are blaming the board for buying players etc, Bruce would have kept Upson, the board pulled off what was a magnificent transfer in theory getting millions for nothing.

But they never get credit with some people do they??

Funny how people who seem to hold the board culpable for everything usually absolve Bruce from anything bad.

To suggest the board bought Forsell and the manager didnt want to is nothing short of ridiculous.

dont write off the board for selling him just yet, for all we know they could have a great striker lined up to come in now and replace Mikael, then people will forget about this!

What kind of impression does that give the other players in the squad? If you get injured and still want to play for us it doesnt matter 'cause you'll be booted out the door for the first bid? "no"

typical of modern footballers !

If you read the article because the player hasn't asked for a move (although his agents probably mentioned it) he's expecting a severance payment !

How about accepting the fact that you've spent a year and half earning 35k a week for sitting on your a4se as 'severance' and let the club have the money as compensation for funding your rehabilitation ?

Exactley what I was thinking the cost to Blues for his none playing stint is huge although I don't believe he is on 35k a week.

Forsell should take the new deal and leave, asking for severance pay after recieving wages for doing sweet FA for so long is taking the Mikael!

To many fans living in the past, take the million and get his wages off the books two games into new season and his knee goes he will be worth nothing and we will never get rid of him never mind another £1.3 million in salries based on 52 x 25k a week.

Regardless of who actually took the decision to bring Forssell in, sometimes in football you have to take risks. Players have come back from serious knee problems before (Shearer, Van Nistelrooy, Keane). Hindsight is a wonderful thing to have, but had Forssell come back with no problems and gone on to score twenty goals a season for Everton, there'd be people moaning that the board/Bruce/whoever, never took a gamble on Forssell.

Good luck to him, hopefully he can get back to being the player he was.

managers can never win really can they -- he'd of been criticised for not signing Mikael if he went on to bang them in for Everton, and will be criticised to sell him on now!

Everton could have signed him, they gave him a medical and then tunred him down on the strength of that, we then signed him for £3m and £25,ooo a week, which to my knowledge has cost Blues a further £300,000 in wages.

Everton then took a chance and turned to AJ

This is going to be another Dunn situation, get him fit again and sell him on :banghead:

If wages are the problem why not send him out on loan till Jan and if he is banging them in call him back, if not im sure we would still get around £1m for him in the window.

At least loan him for the next few months to a Scandinavian side (As Bruce mentioned) then decide on his future in August!!!

£1m is a joke "no"

Sky sports have have only just put that Forsell is close to a move there are contractual deatils that need to be sorted.

Birmingham striker Mikael Forssell has admitted he is close to making a move to Hannover.

Blues boss Steve Bruce confirmed last month that they had held talks with Hannover regarding a potential deal for Forssell.

Reports suggest a deal has been agreed between both clubs and that the move is subject to a contractual issue with Birmingham.

Forssell has dropped well down the pecking order at St Andrews this season and the Finn is keen on a move away for regular first-team football.

"I think that going to Hannover is definitely a possibility," said Forssell. "Anything is. I am sure these things will be sorted.

"I want to be playing first-team football. That's what every player wants.

"I have been feeling sharp for a long time. I have been fit and ready to go."

It is believed Birmingham are ready to let Forssell move on as they plan for life in the Premiership next season.

He was our £10 million player.

:LMAO:

Gone for £1 million and whatever residuals he can claim from the club: i.e. promotion bonus etc.

One month ago the manager was considering a summer loan to a Scandinavian team.

So who actually makes the decisions around here?

for once i feel sorry for the player, good luck Mikael. needless to say Blues were warned... he failed a medical at Everton, that alone would have been enough for me to be put off. Just feel Steve was too sentimental towards the player that had scored a lot of goals for us in a prevoius season.

good luck The Force!!

yep your right...i know someone from behind the scenes at everton and he 100% assures me forssell didnt even come close to passing the medical...wonder if he will have a medical with hannover??got a feeling they know the risks and wont bother  good luck forse but imo brucie made the right decision, we cant pin our hopes on a injury prone player and the 25k a week can go on whoever brucie brings in to replace bendtner...still think earnie shud be top of the list!! :banner:

And also considering we supposedly have such a financially sensible board, why do we never try and broker some clauses in player sales.

Such as if he goes we have a first refusal on him in the future.

Or WHEN he scores 20 goals we get a financial boost.

Or (Like Arsenal did with Pennant) 25% of his sell on fee.

Think of the money we could of been looking at with sales of players like Pandiani, Figueroa etc...

The board and manager have said they would learn from their mistakes.

The truth is we have had our fingers burnt over Dunn, Izzet & Forssell. It is time to cut our losses and move on.

That £25,000 a week (or £1.3million) a year could be spent on a player who can at least play every week.

It makes perfect sense to sell Forssell.

I wish him the best of luck.

I remember at the time that there were rumours that Everton looked at Forse and didn't even bother going through the formality of a medical, so sure were they that he wouldn't pass.
I have never actually seen this story backed up, though, other than "my mate's brother drinks in a pub with the cousin of someone who works at Goodison and he heard......" type stories.

That wasn't my question, friend.

It was, in light of the manager's stated aims over Forsell, within the last month, and now the negotiation for his transfer:

Who actually makes the decisions here?
