The Ten reasons why

Quote:

1. THE DAVIDS (SULLIVAN AND GOLD)
Need we explain?

2. BRUM
In all fairness, the little yellow car is fairly inoffensive in itself, but it brings back memories of Longbridge strikes, Red Robbo, MG, Rover, British Leyland, and the Austin Allegro.

3. JASPER CARROTT
City's most famous (only famous?) supporter.
Well, maybe ELO's Jeff Lynne might be a fan – he'd certainly be funnier.

4. PIPKINS
We're not sure of the origins of Hartley Hare and Topov the Monkey, but Pig, star of the iconic seventies kiddies' show, was most definitely a Brummie with an accent you could curdle milk with. Quality TV though!

5. SPAGHETTI JUNCTION
A feat of engineering or just a pain in the by-pass? Make your own mind up but if North End could navigate this, the route to the play-offs would be simple by comparison.

6. CROSSROADS
Wobbly sets and wooden acting – it was just wrong...on every level!

7. CADBURYBack in the news last week following last year's salmonella scare at their Bournville factory.

8. OZZY OSBOURNE
Rock's Prince of Darkness hails from Birmingham. Enough said!

9. CHRIS TARRANT
Three points? We don't want to give you that, Mr Tarrant!

10. TREVOR FRANCIS
After not getting his own way on the choice of ends for the penalty shoot-out, the then Birmingham boss stormed off the Deepdale pitch in 2001 – threatening to take his team off the pitch, and then sat
sulking as City were beaten by North End, who went on to face Bolton in the final at Cardiff.

Taken from http://www.prestontoday.net/ViewArticle.as...ticleid=2854772

This has to be the lamest escuse for journalism i have ever had the misfortune of reading.

Chris Tarrant born in Reading and went University in Brum! Is that the best that they could manage!!!!

What the ecky thump has PNE got to sing about? I guess thats why they've produced the list.

Slack journalism, even if it had been well researched (which it clearly wasn't) it wouldn't have been very funny. It looks like it was written in about 10 minutes and/or by a GCSE media student.

Surely there is only one reason for Preston NE to want to beat Blues and that's to get a shot at the play-offs! What other motivation would ANY team need apart from that?

It smacks of sour grapes and sloppy journalism.

I'm sure there are many PNE fans who would be embarrassed to read that, but it's only the view of a usless hack so you shouldn't apply it to genuine PNE fans.

Except it wasn't a fanzine. Nor an internet blog.

It came from a bona-fide newspaper. Somehow I just can't see that kind of rubbish in the Post or Mail.

I've got money on Sunderland winning the league. I don't know what I want.

Rumour around Cork - Doyle and Keanos home - is that five blokes have 100 euro each on Sunderland to win the league at 150 to 1 - standing to win 75 grand... bet placed when Keane took over Sunderland.

While its always nice to take money off bookmakers, I hope they lose their bet!!

I have to admit, I agree with him 9 out of 10 times.

Chris Tarrant is not a Brummie.

The local paper ( Lancashire Evening Post ) has 10 reasons to want to beat the Blues:

1. Cadburys - Salmonella.

2. Trevor Francis - storming off in 2001.

3. Chris Tarrant -3 points they don't want to give him.

4. Ozzy Osbourne - Prince of Darkness hails from Birmingham, enough said.

5. Crossroads - it was just wrong.

6. Spaghetti junction - if North End could navigate this the road to the play offs would be simple.

7. Pipkins - ?

8. Jasper Carrott - City's most famous ( only famous? ) supporter

9. Brum - a little car brings back memories of Longbridge, strikes etc

10. The Davids - ( Sullivan and Gold ) need we explain.

it's online at lep.co.uk

see every one at the game

What Do The Preston Fans Sing?

Wise man say, only fools rush in,
But I can't help, falling in love with you,
Take my hand, take my whole life too,
For I can't help, falling in love with you,
The North End! the North End!

Is it me or do they sing that to the tune of Brum band UB40 !!!!! :LMAO:

Match Officials: :Blues: :Blues: :Blues: :Blues: :Blues: :Blues:

Referee: Andy D'Urso (Essex)

Linesmen: Carl Bassindale & Paul Varley (both Yorkshire)

Spare Part: Mike Pike (Cumbria)

D'Urso, one time Premiership referee (failed), has done 41 games this season showing Yellow 90 times and Red on four occasions.

He was in charge when Blues won 1-0 at Coventry in October, where he cautioned 5 players including McSheffrey, Clemence and Kelly of Blues. He was also in the middle for our 0-1 defeat at Ipswich on New Year's Day when he booked two players, one of whom was Mat Sadler. He has not had a Preston game this season.
