Because he's so misunderstood.

I would hate him in Blues' team.

I didnt say he was.

I said he is a good player.

But i dont think you, or me, or anyone like us is in a position to judge a player on incidents we dont know the facts about.

People labeling him as a thug, on issues which they know FA about. What did the Everton fan say to him, why did he fight with Dabo and the youth player. These are things we know nothing about except paper talk.

What kind of excuses are there for the things he did? They would have to be incredibly exceptional circumstances to warrant the sort of physical confrontations this man seems to get himself into with a worrying regularity.

Good player, but no, not for me. We've gotten to where we are with a wonderful spirit amongst the players, they clearly love playing for each other and for the club. Barton could, and at Manchester City has, jeopardised team harmony.

I would sign him

christ man city have a team of lazy players who aint motivated, you can understand why he gets angry

ther eisnt many players like joey barton who give 100% every game - most players just turn up when they feel like it

Poppycock young man.

We know exactly the same facts that every fan of every club around the country know.
The same facts that every manager around the country will know.

There is not some secret cupboard filled with secret reasons that only a few people can look in.

We've heard Barton's side of every problem he's had so far. We've read his stories in the paper's about how sorry he is, and it won't happen again, time and time again.

We've had the facts from the victims, we've had the facts from Barton.

What else does a fan or potential manager need to know that is not already known?

To those who are saying they'd welcome an idiot like Barton can I ask how you square that with saying that it's time for us to stop buying misfits, has beens and cast offs?

If Barton doesn't fall in to the category of being a misfit then I don't know who does.

By the way did you know Man City had sent him to anger management classes? trouble is he decided he didn't need them and didn't go - this was before he beat up Dabo.

Doesn't this remind me of a similar sort of thing that got rid of Bowyer

If Bruce feels he can control him, leave the matter to Bruce, its his decision :ph43r:

Well, i dont think we will ever know what he will be like for Blues ,cos i dont see him being here next season, so whether these incidents will have affected his career at blues who knows.

Im not excusing what he has done at all and i spose the question comes down to whether you are happy to have a player with "behavior" problems at blues. for me, if it doesnt affect his performances i am not too bothered, he cares for the team, his personal performance and for the fans.

Now he did do bad things in his career, things he has admitted he was wrong and is sorry for - but you cant assume him guilty of being in the wrong with Dabo just judging on past record. :copno:

And as for his comments about the team, its about time the Man city players got real and listened to what he said in the press cos he was spot on - and about the england players autobiographies.

He is an unstable little thug, although he can play a bit, I'll give you that.

Personally I think he's got his sights set a bit higher than Man City or us, although doubtful if any team will take a chance on him now.

Robbie was not in the same league as this madman.

I hope this is just speculation and that Steve Bruce has the common sense to steer well clear.

Only Alex Ferguson would be able to calm him down... So definitely not for Blues... i really couldnt see Steve Bruce being able to calm him down...

I wouldn't mind him playing for blues, class player, bit of a nutter, but if brucey can calm him down theres no problem, if he wasn't the way he is would he be the same player and you have to admit hes a good player

They don't come much harder than Stuart Pearce, but he couldn't tame him.

But Stuart Pearce is an awful awful manager, and is, as we know 'Psycho' himself.

I wouldn't have him at Blues even if we got him for free, he is not even a great player, so over-rated it's unbelievable, reminds me of Dikov, just more angry and without the scottish accent.

I think we can all rest easy personally dont think Bruce and the board would touch him with a bargepole as i said i can forgive him for slapping a Frenchman :P but the bloke is an head the ball, it will be interesting though to see who does take the chance with him oh and by the way Pearce was an hard player not some physcho who stubbed cigars out on people and attacked children, theres a big difference between hard and mad.

I hate this sort of thread. It's okay if people say whether they'd welcome a player or not and leave it at that. But usually it leads on to the 'I'll burn my Season Ticket' if he comes' type of remark. Next there'll be polls and petitions and we'll end up with the sort of situation which has 'allegedly' cost us players in the past.

Let's speculate about who we'd like to come - but lets try not to usurp the manager/club's role to actually choose the players that they want.

So, if BCFC want to buy Joey Barton - that's good enough for me. Even if I do think he's an onanist.
