No trophy well who gives a f***. Yes of course it would have been nice but the main thing is that we are promoted at the first attempt thanks to Steve and the boys. Can't make it tomorrow but I'd be there for sure to celebrate a successful season. :banner:

leave the celebrations untill we have won something :banghead:

Message to all the negative posters who still insist on moaning and whineing even when we have achieved our objective of promotion. We have played 46 games and amassed 86 points which is more than 22 other clubs in this division.

We have won something - promotion to the premiership and the £5 million pounds that go with it.

FFS if you still moan when we get promoted I fear there really is no hope to make you happy. :banghead:

It is not about moaning but being realistic and honest. To celebrate second place is wrong. Dont forget Sunderland lost their first five games. Blues have gone up, in effect, having played five more than Roy Keanes Sunderland.

But, having said that, maybe I would be looking at it differently if McSheffery knew where the goal was today.

Its about ambition. Roy Keane sees it as one small step on a long journey. Steve Bruce seems to see it as some sort of redemption. This is the extent of his ambition. It should be a case of: "Right. Premier league here we are. Lets give it a go. Lets see how far we can take it"

You can bet your life that that is how Keane is approaching it. Bruce has the air of "Job done. You cant knock me now".

As i have said previous. we do seem to have more than our fair share of mystic megs on here who obviously know what the future is long before it has actually occured.

Willie, are you sure you meant to reply to my post. You make no sense at all.

.....the civic reception I'm talking about.

The civic reception is as much about getting the name of the city back on the world map once more as it is celbrating football achivement - premiership football attracts billions of viewers world wide and now there is a team back there that carries the city's name...

I hate all the negativity here this afternoon. We have achieved pronmotion which had to be our aim, we should celebrate. Think back to this time last year, we would all have took second place and promotion. Come on for Gods sake, WE ARE PREMIER LEAGUE SAY WE ARE PREMIER LEAGUE!

We are all happy that we are up and accept the fact it is job done. But that is it and no cause for OTT jubilation.

If Bruce stays, which he will, next season is a massive one for him.

I must admit, though the margins today were so fine it was untrue. Blues should have been well clear long before Prestons winner. And the fact they werent is no fault of Bruce, just poor finishing from McSheffery.

We achieved promotion a week ago. Today we've handed the title to Sunderland.

Today Man Utd won the Premiership, tomorrow they will already be looking to retain it next year.

Man Utd were not happy with second place. They are winners. We are happy with second place that's why it's 132 years of nothing.

You're right. because of McSheffery's incompetence on two occassions and Jaidi's poor sense of direction. Colin Doyle's and Stephen Kellys sheer stupidity we have settled for 2nd place.

Anyone remember the Ashes celebration in 2005 and what followed? I was never comfortable with that. Players were still peeved when they started the embarrassment in Aus last winter, bit like the Blues players looked today.

Hope its not a pattern.

This club should not be celebrating second best. Lets start putting on a show when something's been achieved in the big league.

Well said.

I'm surprised some people don't want to give them the freedom of the City for finishing second.

I don't want to be in the shadow of that lot from B6 with their fur ball, sorry silver star on their badge. We may never win the European Cup but unless we start showing some ambition as fans we'll never know.

Sarcasm its not really is it, Its actually a fact if those players had done what they are paid for we would not have lost. as a result we had to settle for 2nd place .........

I think Dominguez retired, his last club was Vasco in Brazil in 2005.

The initial post said that we should cancel the civic reception because 2nd place is really nothing to celebrate.

I have to agree, it would make us something of a laughing stock.

But isn't the title really something to celebrate? I know we got promoted, and we're all happy about it, but come on....for finishing 2nd?

Its not about 2nd place though is it. surely its more to do with the fans uniting and celebrating our promotion. as i have said earlier there are a lot of fans who were not at the sheffield game especially the younger one's who now have a chance to say well done to the team.

If some find it embarrasing then thats fine, but lets not spoil it for those that do not..... :banner:

Well I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.

But a civic reception with no trophy? I think this just highlights the extent of our ambitions as a club.

Whos going to the the civic reception thing tomorrow then ?

Well I will be going because i want to celebrate with the team for achieving promotion. It has nothing to do with finishing second. Yes I am disappointed that we didn't win the championship but that is no excuse to ignore the fact that the players and manager have done what they set out to do at the first time of asking. That in itself is enough to celebrate and if you feel that this is wrong then you don't have to go and celebrate. :Blues:

I know what's going on here.

Those who want it cancelled clearly want to go shopping tomorrow up town and are frightened any decent parking spaces are going to be bagged by revellers.

Naughty.
