Was it a game too far? After all it's been a long season. Were their minds one the beach? Hopefully they realised that they let themselves down big time. The biggest honour in club football many of them will ever get near and they blew it. Jackoblue |

I was absolutely gutted at the final whistle, could see the players were too. Blues bottled it again within reach of a trophy, we have to stop bottling it one day, PLEASE. I have started to come back up though, we are promoted after all. |

I think they got all hyped and expected to win the title. Bruce didn't help, he kept going on about how when we win we wont get the trophy because we were away from home. Then there's this victory thing being scheduled. It's like we had already won the title. |

I offer a different take on the situation - I don't think most of the players give a stuff about winning the trophy or not. They achieved what we set out to do last weekend which was to win promotion. The trophy is much more important to us fans who know that we've won naff all of note in our history than it is to the players, half of whom know they probably won't be playing for us next season anyway. Even the ones who do care are only passing through for a few years rather than being with the club for a lifetime. They were given 4 days off training after winning (by default) promotion after last weekends results - IMO not a good move by SB if he really wanted us focused and really wanting to win the trophy. Could they not have waited one more week to celebrate? |

No. The problem wasn't the players. It was Bruce yet again setting them negative vibes about not giving goal away. Preston came at us as one would have expected but we didn't set our stall out to attack them. Guess what, judging y the 6th minute goal Roy Keane had Sunderland fired up to score first. I feel like we lost promotion - I feel so upset and let down, but I don't blame the players I blame Bruce. |

NO, at the end of a game you just lost , how you supposed to look? because what i saw was All the players after saying there fair do`s to Preston come straight over to al usl away fans clapping us!,then Taylor, mumba and others throwing us shirts gloves tops...etc fair play to em! |

I think Maik Taylor laid some ghosts to rest yesterday. I remember him at the Bolton game throwing all his gear to the fans and looking totally dejected. He was the first one over throwing his gloves etc yesterday, looking much happier. Good on ya Maik! **thumbup |

I really enjoyed the match, the defence really played well, considering Preston was throwing everything at us. McSheff missed two glorious chances - on another day he would of scored. Jaidi missed an header - he would normally of scored. Cole should of had a pen. Larrson on another day would of put that volley into the onion bag and not against the bar. 1 - 5 in my book  Still happy - we are premier league :lager: |

Getting them bladdered at his house on the sunday/monday wasn't a wise move. As far as Bruce was concerned it was mission accomplished last Sunday, couldn't give a flying one about winning the title. |

dont think the team or the manager were focused properly on this game, very unprofessional in my view, same happened a few years ago ,may have been undere cooper,we had a few games to spare after winning promotion but did not win them ,im sure someone will put me right. |

Can't see how you can blame Bruce. What abot the three sitters that McSheffrey missed and the free header that Jiadi should have scored. |

In total agreement, a great match, full on attack from PNE for the first 45 then all Blues apart from the PNEcounter attacks, the last few matches have been a roller coaster ride though, great stuff, great stuff. Roll on 2007/2008. |

One of the sky commentators summed it for me - "they'll be disappointed but when next seasons fixtures come out they will be fine". Sure it would have been great to win the title but next season we are in the prem !! |

I was gutted also. Promotion was what we needed to do but the title was what we wanted. I was aching for us to finally win something. As much as I am thrilled we were promoted the prem offers us no glory as such but this was our one big chance and I felt completly kicked in the stomach at the final whistle. I was pleased to see the players were also disappointed, I would have been miffed if they had initially jumped about like they didn't care that they had just thrown the title away. That said after a few minutes I picked myself and celebrated our pormotion as did the majority of the players and that was nice. It could have been all songs in the street It was nearly complete, it was nearly so sweet. ;) |

After an automatic place under is belt, with one game left to win the championship, and nothing to lose, what does he do. He puts out the usual defensive side. He will never change. |
