where would you see Blues finishing ,
the top 5 places are more or less sewn up ,
I would want Blues to be aiming for the top half of the table,
with the right players bought to go with some of our current squad the its not impossible,
i dont want us making up the numbers at the foot of the table, dont want us being happy with finishing just above the drop zone, lets aim a little higher for once, lets show some proper ambition this time, and aim a bit higher than beating the viler.

AND PLEASE KEEP THIS FREE OF BRUCIE BASHING.

We take baby steps. Yes Reading and West Ham and Wigan all had good first seasons, but look what happened to West Ham and Wigan in their second. Gain a platform from which to build and then start pushing on.

Anywhere outside the bottom three will be a successful season, obviously the higher the better. But common sense dictates that we should walk before running.

Are we ment to forget the last four seasons of buliding in the Premiership? Outside the top 4 the Premiership is very very average and we should be looking forward.

Whilst I would like to see us achieve a top-half finish and wouldn't rule it out, I agree 100% with Franscar. Survival will be a success, albeit the minimum requirement as well. We can push on from there, as we did before.

We all have different expectations, that's quite normal. But there also needs to be dash of realism. My realistic "hope" is for a final position of 8th-12th, my realistic "expectation" is 14th-17th. I would also rule out any likely cup success as all hands will be to the pumps on our Premiership journey, although I still dream and you never know.

KRO.

quite right mate,
who are we competing with the bottom 3 teams,
we must show ambition and get out of this mindset,
we have to or its straight back down again.
lots of things must change, the players ,the fans ,the way we play, the managers way of thinking, the board,
we have got to think beyond just survival.

In the long-term yes. Or we can do a Leeds and ignore the structure, building, behind the scenes stuff and just look at the stars and hope for the best. That doesn't seem a particularly sound business idea to me.

We need to look at sides that have moved up the league from a similar base to ourselves, especially Bolton. They went up, and finished 16th and 17th in their first two seasons. That gave them a platform, and they built from there. 8th, 6th, 8th and wherever they finish this season. Build slowly but surely, and the long-term rewards are much more attainable.

Try to leap too large a gap in one bound and you fall short. Sure we could throw some money at it and maybe finish 10th next season. What good would that be if we do a Wigan and get relegated the season after?

i think we should leave leeds out of things ,that was a mixture of lots of bad decisions,
i dont expect us to be in the top 5 next season but we have had 4 years in the prem before and when we needed to kick on we stopped and went backwards,
all im asking now is that we get the decisions right this time,
all singing from the same songsheet.

Being realistic, I think we will struggle to survive. But there are enough teams who have struggled this season in the Prem to mean that we probably wont be alone in that. I would be happy just to survive - but depending on who we buy, even with bruce as manager, I could see us perhaps finishing in 14th spot.

I think the more interesting question is, how far can we go? Are there limits to where we could be in three or four seasons? And what are the barriers to us achieving our full potential?

Well anywhere between 6th-12th will be a great season and with hard working team that is possible.

That's a very good question. After four seasons, assuming survival in the first obviously, I see no reason why the club can't be up amongst the UEFA Cup shakedown. The top four in the current climate is an almost impossibility simply due to the financial advantage they gain from playing Champions League football every year, but the possibilities of getting up there amongst the UEFA Cup candidates is certainly there.

If we can add some decent players to our squad, stop playing people out of position (Lazaridis at left back!), I see no reason why we can't stay up.
