No, that's the Tilton Corner (I think). It's the one next to the Railway End.

Blacksmith- I agree that standing is not for all so having a dedicated standing area would be the sensible option for all. I wonder whther Blues would listen to that idea? It would certainly get the crowd to be more passionate.

I agree with you then but in my opinion there has to be a standing area at the ground and the only suitable area is the Tilton Rd as there are no boxes at the top like the Kop and it's where our singers are. Everywhere else should be sitting apart from the abligetry Away fans in the Railway.

The're allowed to stand in the pub league, oh sorry i mean't MLS in the states and that says it all really.

I loved the atmosphere when I was still able to stand throughout the match, and would much prefer it now, if I was still able.

I don't think it's a case of Blues listening to the idea of standing areas though, it would possibly need to be a FA or even FIFA agreement. I am sure that a small section dedicated for such a purpose would not cause the problems we saw in the past, so I am all for it.

Let's get behind them then or are the days of an intimidating St Andrews over?

Question = How can we get the atmosphere back?

When did we lose tha atmosphere i a better question, i think being in the prem with new players will bring better atmosphere, if that is possible.

It's not a regulation by the FA for fans to stand in the seating area though is it?
We don't necessarily need to put 'stands' back in for fans to stand??? I would think this would be a safe compromise??

wish we could get it back to how it was 5-6 years ago but I doubt we'll ever get back to that.

Theres too many of these stay away fans who were hear for the relegation season, and then picked their games in the Championship when they heard we were playing well and on a good run, only to come and start moaning because Blues are having an off day, thinking that this is how they play all the time now so again stay away and then criticise whenever they come!

no the fortress WILL be back

We've been disheartened in the past few years, time to pick ourselves up.

I remember when we were one of the strongest defences in the league.

COME ON BLUES.

Well it would be a health and safety issue and could lead to the removal of the H&S certificate. I believe that the same happened at Manure?

I think in the relegation season - attendances dropped and fans started getting edgy and nervous all the time
Then last year in the championship - at certain matches the atmosphere was great, but often the crowd got on the players backs and that created a bad atmosphere.

Hopefully this season, the atmosphere can get back to what we need it to be.

I think alot of it came from the fact that in that first season we were total underdogs. Everybody had written us off, but we had the kind of players that were going to get stuck in, not be intimidated and were going to give their 100% best. After that first season expectations got so much higher.

It's a fair comment from Bruce.

It's fair to say that 'flat games' and a defeatist attitude play a part, but then again, if the team does well, it will encourage the supporters who will in turn, 'Turn it up'.

On the other hand, B;lues fans always seem to come out of their shell when they feel Blues have been poorly treated by the officials or the team have their backs against the wall against the best teams.

Being 3-0 up against Wigan at home isn't going to generate an intimidating atmosphere, whereas, holding Man Utd 0-0 with 9 men and 10 mins to go, will.

All the people who say they wanted standing on this thread either message me on here or check out standupsitdown.co.uk

Looking to see if we can initially get a local group going and then take it from there. StandUpSitDown are campaigning in co-operation with the Football Supporters Federation, and had a meeting in Birmingham a few weeks ago. The idea was floated about creating regional groups, and looking at some of the posts on this website alone, I think the interest is undoubtably there.

It's about time we stood up to the authorities and prawn sandwich brigade who have taken over football.

All seater stadia is by far the main contributor to killing the atmosphere at all the grounds, not just ours. Other factors come nowhere it. Come the new season, just listen to how quiet Anfield, St James's and Old Trafford are, when they're on the telly (Vile Park goes with mentioning).

Also, the introduction of standing areas would also mean the gentleman who can't stand for prolonged periods, would not have his viewing impaired as the supporters who want to stand would have their own areas. I have no objection to people sitting, but I object to having my right to stand being taken away. This wouldn't happen at a music gig, so why should we have to tolerate this facist law, for something with feel as equally, if not more passionate about?

He may well have just commissioned the making of a rod for his own back...If things aren't going too well, he'll soon see how intimidating the 2 finger gestures from behind the dug-out can be, dare he step into the technical area....Lol!

...Its one thing to make alot of noise in the stands, and another to do it on the pitch Forssyth! Get your tactics right, and the Kaiser Chiefs wont be the only ones predicting a riot!

...Im sure our tribal faithful will be duely oblige to bring the ruckus, providing you bring the results!

For those who are interested in standing areas, the standupsitdown website have mailed me, saying there's going to be a major article in tomorrow's (12th) edition of the Observer.

Not a paper I often buy myself, but will definately be checking it out tomorrow, just before we go on to turn over Chavski.

how about someone creates a thread with all the different songs etc that we have for st andys? for those people that dont go down there every week its hard to learn all the new songs (if there are any), it would be good if they had something to look to see what all the words are to the different songs we sing. Like others say, its a bit boring after a while to just be singing keep right on over and over again because its the only song that everyone knows word for word...
