We dont need another midfielder, djourou can play centre mid.

We need someone a bit different in there, we have the busslers and tacklers, now we need the creativitiy, someone who would put there foot on the ball and dictate play from there, thread the ball through to the forwards and pass the ball to the wingers.

Players like DJ and Muamba do their jobs well but when it comes to getting the ball down, keeping possesion and creating things, they're just not up to it (nor would i expect them to do it) and you need someone else who can do that there.

I know it wont happen though.

Its already happened... KAPO embodies all those attributes that you've suggested we need.

Welcome to Blues Johan! Im still finding it hard to believe you've actually joined us, and i couldnt be more pleased with the fact that you have. :Blues:

i keep an eye on the younger players on the fringe of first team at other clubs, this guy is a class player ,believe me he is top drawer, and can play in midfield which is a brucie bonus.and hopefully he will stay for the season,i bet Arsenal have this guy on a very long contract.

I think that the 'off the field' relationship we have with Arsenal must be better than we have than with any other club. So a big pat on the back to those people.

Well done Steve Bruce, who is quoted as saying that Djourou was his number one defensive target....so lets hope he stays true to his word and uses him there.

Finally, I think the defensive side of the squad is now more than capable of doing a reasonable enough job throughout the season to give us a chance.

I'm with one or two others though and agree that I believe we are still a signing short in Midfield, especially as Killer has been allowed finally to go to Oldham.

Forget Mido, it aint going to happen, IMO.

Welcome to the Blues Johan :banner:

I said before that I thought that Bruce was banking on this going through a while back. Thats why we did'nt seem to be chasing many defenders. Bruce and Wenger must have made an agreement.

Well done to everybody involved with this loan move, good stuff **thumbup I can't wait for the season to kick off :banner:

I hope your right but i bet he'll be alongside Muamba in midfield on Sunday with Jaidi and Ridgewell at the back.

Theres also the possibilty of playing him as a sweeper, or the 3rd centre half in a back line of 5, but to me, that would just be asking for trouble, as they would naturally defend deep, which in turn negates the need for a sweeper.

I'd rather Bruce have these questions than, "Who have I got to put in there?"

What he does do is give options on the park. Having a player with strong abilities in many positions means that you often don't need to rely on the bench so much or that you can use some of the subs almost like special team players i.e. a DJ Campbell as a super sub type may not make it onto the pitch if the bench is filled with strong holding players.

He basically just gives the team options and in some ways makes them a more dynamic looking team. With the exception of the few most of our squad are competent in a few positions.

I agree with you, but it also creates a problem within itself too.

That is, the management team being unsure to a players 'best' position, with the temptation then to be play players out of position just becouse they are competent there.

For me, unless you have no other choice, you should play people in their best positions every time.

For Bruce to chase Djourou and claim he is his No 1 defensive target, and then play him in midfield just becouse he has several other defenders to choose from would be a poor move.

Djourou, despite maybe having the technical ability to play in midfield, should only be done so a last resort.

The guy is an outstanding centre half, lets use him there.

Arsenal fan here. Well done on a good deal with Djourou he is a quality defender and most Arsenal fans consider(ed) him 3rd choice ahead of Senderos.

For anyone who is wondering, I presume the loan is only until January as thats when the African Nations Cup starts and unless we've signed another defender he'll be needed once we lose Toyre and Eboue.

You've git a 20 year old who has World Cup, Champions League and Premiership experience and I honestly cannot think of a game where he has been poor.

I remember when we played Man Utd at Old Trafford at the beginning of last season and he was one of the best players on the pitch, dealing with the threat of Rooney, Ronaldo and the like, even though he was the only unknown player on the pitch.

Thought you would also like to know that he is very, very good friends with Fabrice Muamba, JD has known him since he joined Arsenal at 15 and for the Academy and the reserves Muamba and Djourou would be the midfiels partnership that was very strong, so they probably know each other inside out.

Also, when we played Portsmouth on the last game of the season, he played the holding midfield role and really excelled.

He is alos down to earth and speaks very good English
