Jaidi is a good defender, I'm not disputing that. He's proved he's a good defender on a number of occasions. But I just think Djourou and Ridgewell are better. Even Schmitz deserves a go in the team, otherwise we might as well just end his loan deal. From what I know of Schmitz, he has the same abilities as Jaidi anyway (good in the air and deadly from set pieces), only difference is he's left footed and been playing champions league football the past two seasons. |

I've got a feeling Forsyth might be opting for a 4-5-1 or 4-2-3-1 this season. His emphasis on Djorou's ability to play midfield makes me wonder whether he plans to pair him with Fabrice in holding capacities, thus freeing Kapo to slot into the hole. If so, then i'd expect to see McSheffrey and either Larsson or De Ridder on the flanks. ...My one concern would be that we've brought in too many players. Its important, from the presepctive of premiership survival to know your strongest 11, and i doubt Bruce has any idea what his is at present, nor the best system to play. |

You both (Brummiesteven and Lars) make valid points, and i think we all can agree that our defence is looking rather solid at the moment. With full-backs Parnaby, Kelly, Queudrue, and Sadler, and centre-halves Ridgewell, Djourou, Schmitz, Jaidi, and Taylor; Bruce has an array of quality options at his disposal, and that has to be a good thing. |

you need numbers in the prem, we have been down the route of scraping around looking for players to play out of position, now at least we have some competion for places, BUT THAT REGULAR GOALSCORER IS STILL VERY ELUSIVE. |

we have a decent SQUAD and that is what is needed to stay n this divsion. he will have the best dilamma a manager can have and that is pickin between his best players. last time we was in the prem we did not have a big squad and that was our down fall. i think also that we will struggle at home because last prem season we was in we had no home friendlies just like this season. so the new signings have not played at st andrews at all. |

i think schmitz would have been a first choice but for his injury, its interesting as we have had settled defenses for years in a way with the same players always being first choice when fit ,Eg cunningham, upson. So it will be interesting to see who our first choice back four is going to be this year with it being completley revamped |

It's all about competition for places. Players won't let their performances drop and get complacent if they know that there is a couple of people ready to take their place. |

Like others have said, we were caught short last time, which ultimately cost us our place. You cant have too many good players! I think that this will be his first choice defensive line up: RB: Kelly LB: Quedrue CH: Ridgewell CH: Djourou THAT is a good defensive unit. Parnaby, Sadler, Jaidi, Schmitz will be cover, and I dont see any future for Tebily or Taylor at Blues, and wouldn't be surprised to see either or both of them leave St Andrews shortly. |

I think this is crazy! When we went down, one of the main problems is that we had so many injuries, we didnt have any quality backup to get in the starting lineup. Suddely now Bruce realised how important depth is in the team, and decides to add some competition for first team places, people seem to think that is a bad thing. Im sorry but to stay up, it is important that we have a strong squad who know to get a place in the first team, have to perform to their best. Just be gratefull that Steve Bruce has decided to add this 'Headache' to his team selection because it may be crucial later on in the season. |

10 defenders is 2 for each position with a couple spare. That may go down to one spare if Tebs is shifted out* or if Johan is a flop/overwhelming success, and goes back in January. Cover is vital. *as rumoured in transfer talk |

I've just looked at the list and I see 8 premiership defenders + Taylor and Tebily, so I don't suppose that's so bad. |
