I met Mat Sadler at half time at Chelski, and he said that he is back in training...lets get him back on the field soon! From the stands, Queudrue was apalling. Kept getting skinned, worst defender on the pitch. Lets hope he was only poor due to a lack of form and a lack of match fitness |

Quedrue was unfit for todays game, so i dont know why bruce played him instead of Parnaby......overall i thought it looked like we have had that team in the Premier League for some years!! **thumbup Well Done Blues **thumbup |

Worries me that our LB could become an obvious target for our opposition, Quedrue had a stinker and I don't even think SWP is or was that good, there's certainly much better RM's in the prem, won't draw an immediate judgement on the bloke but he won't last long playing like that, Sadler would fair better but even he gets swamped very easily, maybe Kelly will become the choice LB but time will tell, still feel we would have beaten most sides today regardless of Quedrue's poor show. |

To be fair, both Queudrue and Kelly had bad games. I would like to put it down to being a back four who has'nt played together but we need a marked improvement from them for Sunderland. |

Blimey. I think i may have to go on holiday if every player that had a less than superb game is questioned and pushed (virtual) out of the club and sent to the naughty corner. From what i heard you could have had the big JC himself playing left back and Sweep would have still run rings round him. The Chelsea game is a yardstick but it's the tip of the three foot, the real test for the team in against Royderland/Slumdurland/Sunbedland in the week, although even then i reckon it's too early to judge a team that needs a chance to gel. Thin Franck has proven he can cut at this level so I'd be prepared to give him some slack. Did anyone really expect us to roll over Chelsea today with each player outplaying there opposite number? Was the pre match hype that Chelsea were down to the bare bones really swallowed that easily? C'mon chaps & chapettes lets join the real world there are 37 games left, that is plenty for us to still win the league!Should such a feat be expected of them |

Just got back from the game and i was talking to Chelsea fans walking away from the stadium and they all said that was the best SWP has played in a Chelsea shirt. Frank will be fine give the bloke a break, Doyle had a stinker too but no body is being over the top about him. Bring on Weds Im optimistic for the season after watching us today |

I dont believe Quedrue is up to it, but as usual people go way overboard when someone has 1 good or bad game.FFS give it a rest. :Blues: |

Doyle was bad, yes. But drop him from the team for next weak. That'll do more harm than good. Doyle will feal awful and to be dropped after just one premiership game and against Chelsea. Keep him for at least next match. :Blues: |

Im finding it more and more difficult to post on this board. There are so many idiots its untrue. The problem with French Franck today was that he wasnt fully fit due to a lack of pre -season. Bruce admitted prior to the game it was a gamble. But with Sadler out wanted a recognised left back againts one of the top teams in Europe. A more valid observation would be that our defending today although doggged and full of effort was slightly unorganised and not as diciplined at it could be (look at Reading at United for an example of better organisation). However this to be expected considering Franck only signed last week and Ridgewell and Djourou only met Friday. There were a lot of positives out of the game namely the fact that we look like we have players that can score goals this season something that we lacked in our last two premiership campaigns, including from midfield. Im sure given time to settle the defence will be as good as it has ever been under Bruce. |

It's difficult to defend against a full back and a winger as nippy as SWP, Mcsheff didn't track back and glen johnson got forward and exploited it |

I'm glad someone has pointed out McSheffs part in this, along with Nahfti who couldn't seem to find a white shirt with a pass... |

O.K. seems like a few of us are" havin a go" but they are fair comments based on what happenend, not a wich hunt. I for one was delighted we signed FQ saw enough of him when at Boro to know that he is quality, but so many new faces playing at the very highest level against the runners up of the best league in the world, thats the yardstick we are measuring our team by. Seems to me that we've come a long way since last years opener aginst Colchester. |

Quedrue is a muppet he juts tries to rihno head players at a hundred milles an hour and loses out every time he also moves out of posistion fair to much for me liking just 1 big gap down the left were they kept attiking us....also he is clumsey when he divies in, he gave a pen away on his debue too. |

Although you managed to do it that time! I was asking what you were saying. I couldn't care less if your spelling is good or bad, I was simply trying to understand what you were trying to say. I still haven't a clue what you wrote so the same question applies. |

Wright-Phillips showed yesterday precisely why they spent so much money on him. It was an excellent example of wing play. He was quick, skilful, direct and produced an end product more often than not. I think we could have had Maldini at left back and he would've had a few headaches dealing with him. |
