A decent Chelsea side deserved the win, few complaints however: 1) Referee... made some poor decisions both ways and should have Booked Kalou (Time wasting), Nafti (Fouling as usual). 2) Doyle... Unbelievable... Two goals were his fault. I hope it was just Season Nerves kicking in, and that it's not a permanent thing. He was shocking 3) The line up. I would have thought 3 defenders who never played together before is a bad idea. Hoping he would play Jaidi just so we had some routine with him and Kelly. Let Djourou, Ridgewell and Queudrue settle in slowly. However, I am thoroughly impressed with the effort, I think we lacked some pace, disappointed not to have seen O'Connor in action. Nafti... all he does is tackle, but his passing is appalling... I am no doubting Muamba's ability, didn't see much of him at all today. Larsson looked out of place and like he couldn't cope and the defence was, as expected with 3 new defenders in the team, rubbish. Although the pace of Malouda and SWP was a hard test, I just think that was a key for them going forward and really ****** us up. The positives: 1) Forssell.. Didn't get injured, played well and got a "Goal" 2) Kapo... Awesome I think I am in love with this guy :wub - Another typical Kapo goal 3) We played fairly well I think, especially against Chelsea, and done what I asked. Proved we are in it for the big time. Bruce may have just been testing his team and looking what needs improving today. Hoping the Midfield becomes: McSheffery---Someone New---Muamba/Larsson---De Ridder Kapo as an Attacking Midfielder should be good, and hopefully try to bring in a new striker like Mido. Forssell looked okay, but I don't think he is full fit yet, Jerome doesn't look good enough and I haven't seen O'Connor much. Ah well, great entertainment value (First Half) and A decent Chelsea side, taken some great confidence from this match and just hoping we carry it into the Mid-week fixture. KRO :D |

I know, but I would prefer someone proven, he looked okay, I hope I am wrong, but just my concerns after 1 game. |

would we have done better slotting Kapo in as the attacking midfielder, dropping Nafti to the bench and starting with Jerome alongside the Force? feed.back |

To come away with 2 goals at stamford and be winning at one stage, not many teams will do that this season, i think we should be very optismistic this season, we should beat sunderland imo. People can say oh but they beat tottenham, but there rubbish away and its mackems first home game. For us to go away to chelsea first game of season and do what we did, im personally very proud, and im hearing nothing but praise from viler fans. My only critisism is on Quedrue, Please do not start him again! KRO and be happy! |

My thoughts for what they are worth. Doyle - looked dodgy to me, slow off his line and looked a bit slow for the first and third goals, but made up for that with one cracking save. Surely a cracking future for this keeper. Wish he was English. Kelly - Steady, did what was expected. Good game. Quedrue - Looked unfit, caught out of position too many times, roasted by Philips, mistake led to third goal. Worse player for Blues today. Djourou - Steady surely can only improve Ridgwell - Tell me who the Vile have thats better than him. Good first performance. Nafti - loved some of his tackling, wish someone would teach him how to pass though. Larson - 100% as per, steady, bit unproductive with passing. Muamba - Surely a star in the making, good tackles, run like a good un. Good game, Mcsheff - Talented, but wheres it gone, also doesnt track back enough for my liking. Kapo - For me, MOM, brilliant goal, couldnt have asked for a better debut. Forsell - A pleasure to see him score, play the 90 mins, still had enough energy to make Carvalho look silly near the end, pity not much support. Parnaby - Steady. De Ridder - Didnt have chance to show much, Jerome - Ditto De Ridder, but wish he could control the ball a bit better. All in all like us all i was well impressed with the perforance it augurs well for the future and well done to Bruce for going their not just to defend. |
